The reception area, restaurant and bar section seems to be newly renovated and it provides a fresh feeling when entering the hotel. The rooms however are fairly comfortable but carry none of the image created upon check in. They are big rooms with a kitchenette section shower the styling is old. a definite letdown was the internet connection and the...

You for sure would expect much more from such an Hotel. Particularly because it is now part of Marriott. In the room 605 no Wifi working, it took about one day for the staff to admit the situation. The room if big, not really clean and really old fashioned, it's definitively needs renovation. Only 2 positif points. Staff was trying...

Lovely location, easy access to the beach, lots of restaurants, bars and coffee shops around the hotel and surrounds (max 5 min walk). stayed in the old wing. the room was huge and spacious but a bit tired but we were advised that wing is being closed and redone in April 2017. Also the pool area is not what it...

I booked the hotel on Bookings.com as a last minute get away. The brand is constant and doesn't fail on delivery. As most of the Protea by Marriot in SA have gone through a revamp, the decor is sophisticated and chique. Pleasantly delighted by the new wing at the hotel. Our room was short of being a suite, tasteful interior,...

The rooms smell terrible! Swapped rooms but still no difference. I am dreading my stay. The only plus is the location but I would rather drive a few minutes to the beach than have to bear with the smell! Never booking here again!

i always thought that being close to Gateway shopping centre was a good location. But this hotel steps out onto restaurants, coffee shops and a small shopping centre. A nice hotel with upgraded rooms. Good location near the shore front. A bit odd that the pool closes at 6 pm so pretty useless for late arrivals.
