Decided last minute to stay over in quaint Haenertsburg. Very very good deal! Lovely fireplace in the cottage, enough wood for one night. Each cottage has a name, I stayed in the Rider Haggard cottage. Host switched on the oil heater also to warm up the cottage. There is a microwave oven, fridge, kettle in the small kitchen. Walking distance... More

I stayed at the Pennefather for two weeks last month. It is a great place to stay. The cottages are well kept by the staff, and although it was very cold at night, there are electric heater in each room as well as a log burning stove, with plenty of dry wood supplied, to keep you warm. I loved it... More

We were 2 couples out for a ride on our bikes in the area of Magoebaskloof and needed to overnight somewhere. Having been to Haenertsburg previously for a brief day visit we were keen to return for a night. Each couple had our own "cottage" comprising a large double bed, fire place, self-catering kitchenette and small bathroom with a shower.... More

We stopped over for a night on our way to the Kruger National Park. It is set in the quaintest town in the Magoebaskloof area and allows you to begin to relax. The cottages are really clean and well equipped. The booking process was easy and the reception very welcoming. Well worth a visit

The Pennefather was easy to find due to the fact that it's so unique and reminds one of a bygone era. They are in close proximity to the pub, foodzone and other restaurants. We stayed in the Prester John cottage and was delighted to find that what you see on their website is what you get. This is a no... More

My wife and I stayed here last year on my way through to Gauteng from the Kruger National Park. It was affordable, the staff were extremely accommodating, the place was clean and presentable, and I woke up feeling like a million dollars. We took an early morning drive around the mountain, came back for breakfast (good value), and sat at... More

We stayed in one of the cabins for one night. Very comfortable and clean, nice kitchen and shower. Don't forget to bring all your personal items such as soap etc. Porch to sit out on.Local history decor. Owners very accommodating. Wi-fi at the cafe next door-not in the cabin. Breakfast very special. Enjoyed our stay.

We slept at this beautiful little and what a disappointment. The towels are in a worse state than the ones my dogs sleep on at home! The linen and curtains are old and shabby! A very sick dog was allowed in our room on checking in (whilst I am allergic to animal hair) and above all, the "no name brand... More

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking time to give our establishment a rating. 1. Dogs. My 10 year old Rottweiler, who had a partial paralysis of her back legs, was at that time, full time in my care. I was not aware that she followed me, if I was aware, I would have stopped her for her sake as she... More

These little vintage cottages are really all you need. They are well equip with a double/ 2 single beds, kitchen, TV, bathroom and fire place. They are a walking distance from every shop and restaurant in town. It's safe and clean and you even have a car port for your car. But I do think they are a little expensive... More

There are 6 wooden cottages in the complex. They are equiped with everything you are going to need for a weekend. Some cottages have two single beds joined as a double bed. Fireplaces are in all cottages. Everything in the village is within walking distance.

“Bring your own firewood and firelighters if at all possible, although they will try to help you with firewood it is a bit of a scarcity in the area and even the foodzone had limited amounts. If you are arriving late, consider pre-ordering dinner or come prepared as on Monday's no restaurants are open in the evenings and most shops close around 17:00. Should you require speciality utensils (ovenproof dishes, potato peeler, whisks ect. ) for food preparation bring these from home as the kitchenette has only the basic equipment to get by with.”
