We visited for a cycling event at Stanford college. Quick & easy and close to it. Dinner - restaurant within walking distance. They put up a stretcher for our daughter, even left a note wishing her good luck for the cycling race.
Very cosy accommodation close to all restuarants and food zone. This is a good basecamp if you want to travel through Magoebaskloof. There is also hiking routes and the cemetery. The only thing is the foot steps from neighbouring cottage which was loud on the first night thereafter very quiet place to stay. Keep the fire going in winter it is cold in the morning !
The wonderful thing about small towns is their retention of their old school charm - almost retro in a way. Pnnnefather is no different, beautiful tin roof cottages with fire places and roomy enough so you don't feel cramped. The TV brought a smile to my face - it worked perfectly but I literally haven't seen one of these in 20 years. My only negative was that the curtains could be replaced with newer as they are looking shabby. The cottages are clean and the self catering amenities cover all you may need.
We had a lovely stopover in the lovely little village of Haenertsburg. Pennefeather was a great place to stop, quaint little cottages and centrally situated. Everything was spotlessly clean and the room very comfortable. Will stay there again.
The self catering cottages are beautifully appointed taking one back to the early days of the mining era in this town. We arrived on a cool misty day and were delighted to be able to curl up beside a fire before bedtime. Being able to walk to the village and all activities at the Spring Festival was particularly enjoyable. An absolutely delightful stay.
