2 types of accommodation - but recommend the units with the suite. Both types are clean and comfortable. The common kitchen & toilet facilities are good and the layout of the camp site is good, allowing privacy between units.

The setting is lovely but the accommodation needs updating. While the layout is very good, it is very dark inside the tent and the lighting is poor. Our tent was very worn and generally the place did not feel clean. The linen is a good quality. This accommodation is not expensive and some may find it good value for money.... More

We spend as much time in the bush as we can - more so Imfolozi as we're from KZN - This was our 1st visit to Tamboti and it certainly won't be our last - it offers total seclusion combined with the sound of Lions and Hyenas throughout the night - truly unique experience - we loved our 4 night... Everything we needed in this great bush camp - and our group of 8 had privacy and a super time. Our connecting ensuite and kitchen were great and well stocked and worked well. We self catered as a group and it was great to be in the African bush with all the night sounds.

As a person who loves camping and the wild, this was my favourite night of a seven day stay in Kruger (we stayed all over to see as much as possible). We stayed in one of the luxury tents (ensuite), and felt like Tarzan's parents in the jungle. It was so quiet, we could hear a lion roaring in the... More

Try and get a " Luxury" tent , but remember this is Government controlled , so budgets are always a restrain , The tents have everything you need, a limited kitchen, hotplate, microwave, and fridge Freezer, IF possible get tent #40 its against the fence and you will get Night visitors. Lovely watering holes close by

We just returned from 2 nights at Tamboti, and once again, we loved our stay!!! We stayed in one of the luxury "tents", which has an en suite bathroom, comfortable double bed, fully stocked kitchen and wonderful view. I would recommend this accommodation for anyone looking for a slightly more private, romantic and authentic bush experience! The honey badgers visit... More

We spent 3 nights here. The tents which are classed as luxury are showing wear and tear and damage by baboons. They are comfortable but have passed their sell by date and should be replaced.Hot plates not working so everything was prepared on the braai.Beautiful shady trees and great views of the river.Hyenas and Honey badgers spotted close to fence and lions... Tamboti is a lovely self-catering, rustic location. It is not luxurious and never pretended to be. For what you pay you get a lovely, basic tent (we booked the ones with the ablution and kitchen facilities, which were very satisfactory) with a deck overlooking the river bed. Each tent is mostly hidden away and you don't tend to notice the... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Tamboti tented camp is a small camp situated on the banks of the Timbavati River, on the western boundary of the Kruger National Park, approximately 2km east of Orpen Rest Camp. Due to the size and location of this camp, Tamboti is one of the most popular camps in the Park. A great feature is a boma, which makes it ideal for small groups of people to gather around the campfire and relive the animal sightings of the day. For the birding enthusiasts, Tamboti offers a bird hide in which to spend hours looking for that exclusive raptor that has up to now eluded you. The natural bush feeling is kept inside the camp, which has the result of emphasizing guest privacy. ... more   less
