Satara is in a terrific location for wildlife. Although a big camp it has a number of game drive options, North on tar, South on tar, East on S100 and many great areas to the west. The rooms are arranged in large circles. I really wouldn't want to stay here unless there are no other options. Nothing to look at...

I've read very mixed reviews and as a South African I can tell you that the Kruger Park and particularly Satara are simply wonderful - the place is clean well presented - the shops and restaurants are perfect. If you're looking for an authentic and safari experience this is it! The accommodation is basic but very comfortable all round a...

I stayed at Satara for 2 nights in a perimeter bungalow BD2V. Satara is a great area for wildlife (especially big cats), with many roads available for self-drive. I also went on a Sunset guided drive. On this drive I saw: A big male lion on H7 near Nsemani Lake, a lioness with 3 cubs on H7, hyena with pups...

When visiting Satara, try and get a unit overlooking the bush with its animals passing by. The beds were comfortable and offer the best reading light for bedtime reading. The appliances even included a microwave, a big plus factor. There is an abundance of game in close proximity and this Rest Camp rates as one of the best for seeing...

Our second camp at Kruger and it was just as good. Your cooking amenities are on the balcony outside and it was lovely so sit out under the stars for dinner. All you could want in accommodation to enjoy your safaris. Little owls in the trees outside, hear the lions roar at night.

Stayed here on my way from berg en-dal rest camp via a couple of days in Skukuza on my way to Letaba and Shingwedzi Rest Camps. It is a reasonable transit point between Skukuza and either Olifants or Letaba. My room was the second last bungalow from the back boundary. It was very dark and only one power plug next...

Satara is situated in the central grasslands of the Kruger National Park. This has to be one of the best areas in the park for game viewing - especially the predators! Accommodation is in basic, but clean and comfortable huts. There are different categories of huts. Meals at the Mugg and Bean are very good. Can't complain about Satara at...

My wife and I visited the Kruger Park in March 2015 and stayed in Satara rest camp. The walls of the room was dirty and the service in general was poor. I will not recomend the small rondawels at Satara to anyone

Satara has some of the best wildlife in Kruger and the huts are well maintained. They are by no means luxurious but you experience nature in a very intimate way and have enough personal privacy to make this stay special.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Satara is a busy camp, and not without reason. It is situated in an excellent game viewing area, with the bush relatively open and the animals plentiful and diverse. The camp itself has a rustic charm, with the bulk of the accommodation set out in a series of circles. Satara is well wooded and the bird-life is prolific. At night the clink of fruit bats is fused with the chirping of cicadas and crickets. The calls of owls and nightjars add to the symphony that is punctuated intermittently by the whoop of hyena, the screech of jackal and the roars of lion. ... more   less
