Having stayed in both the chalets and main building I have nothing but praise for the facilities and the staff. The rooms are clean and functional with enough room to relax. The restaurant serves up a superb selection of both local and international cuisine, and the restaurant staff and very attentive. Mum hippo and her babe made several appearances during...

I recently stayed at Hippo Hollow as part of the work get away. There was a mix up with the initial booking and allocation of rooms but this was sorted out. We had tried to organise a welcoming drink or cocktail which the hotel said that they did but what they offered was rather disappointing - just some cordial cold...

Hippo Hollow Country Estate is located with easy access to the Kruger National Park. The staff are extremely warm, welcoming, efficient and helpful. The accommodation was spacious, comfortable, clean and perfectly located. What a delight to sit drinking sundowners, watching hippos a few yards away, in a luxurious wild setting. The management were attentive to our every need. Thank you!

Stayed here with a tour group while visiting Kruger. Hotel was excellent with staff very friendly. Enjoyed the dinner show, but it was perhaps overpriced following recent price increase. Didn't see much of the resident hippo - only a glimpse of its eyes.

Chalet was comfortable overlooking the river at the rear with quiet swimming pool at the front amongst the trees. At dinner we sat overlooking the river and witnessed the odd hippo walking along the river. Enjoyed the dance show in the hotel on Saturday Evening. Gardens beautifully maintained. Ideal base for touring the Panorama Route.

We enjoyed a beautiful evening at Hippo Hollow - a drink on the deck overlooking the river, a dance/singing show and a delicious and bountiful buffet dinner. No hippo sightings - although the bartender assured me that there was one the afternoon before and a general announcement was made so all the guests knew. There is no fencing between the...

Dear Jill & Steve, Thank you very much for the feedback. Hippo Hollow regard each and every visit from a Hippo as a privilege and we consider ourselves extremely lucky to be able to have such an extraordinary animal roam our property from time to time, if it doesn’t feel shy. It is a pity that we cannot create this...

in the afternoon we booked dinner for four couples, our last night in Africa, hippos come out of the water at night in the garden! Restaurant was busy with buffet, staff knew in advance that we would be ala carte. Service was slow and poor, one steak went back to be cooked twice, we then gave up and ate the...

We stayed here for 1 night on the way to Kruger. The staff were very welcoming and the gardens beautifully maintained. Our chalet had a deck with a nice river view and it was handy to be able to park our car at the front door. The room was clean and well maintained although quite dated. There was a ceiling...

We stayed at Hippo Hollow for 2 nights as a stop off on our return journey from the Kruger to Jo'burg airport. Our room opened on to a garden square with a pool which I thought might be noisy but on the contrary, it turned out to be quite peaceful. There are also many 'cabins' around the estate, some of...

We relaxed three days at Hippo Hollow Country estate after our 2 days private game reserve in Kapame. Hippo Hollow is ideally located at Hazyview allowing 1 day excursion such as scenic road for three rondavels and one day in the Kruger parc. The hotel itself is very nice in the superior bungalow with air conditioning which offer a very...
