We enjoyed very much our 3 nights spent at KINGFISHER LODGE: Room was clean and comfortable and staff very kind. Main house interior is well decorated and looks like an English cottage interior. The first morning we had to wake up very early to go to visit Hluluwe reserve and Staff arranged for us a very complete breakfast free of...

I spent 4 days at Kingfisher Lodge in St Lucia and will definitely recommend it if you are looking for a B&B to overnight. The location is stunning and the rooms are more than adequate. Love the mosquito netting over the bed - you wake up every morning feeling as though you slept in a fluffy white cloud.

At the end of the main street the Kingfisher Lodge is in a quiet but convenient position. There are tracks that lead off from the drive which took us towards the broadwalk across the estuary. The room was pleasant overlookingthe lush garden. We were warned about the animals walking through the garden but all we saw were the tracks of...

Spent 5 nights in this lovely lodge. The room was very clean and had all the amenities we needed. The location is fantastic with beautiful gardens. We didn't see any Hippos but were entertained by a troop of monkeys one breakfast. The breakfast was excellent and cooked to order. The staff were lovely, very welcoming and helpful and even booked...

Kingfisher Lodge is situated at the very end of the McKenziestreet, bordering the nature reserve, so all kind of animals roam through the big wonderful garden. I even noticed a leopard in the dark. Because there are no fences you have to be careful when you arrive in the dark; it is very possible that you stand eye in eye...

A small group of birders enjoyed two nights at the lodge. The setting is beautiful, and we could walk right out the gate and explore nearby trails. The grounds are lush and include a swimming pool. You could spend all your time here, but the location is very convenient to other parks and to the St. Lucia estuary, and there...

There are so many good things about this lodge. Our room was spacious and had a private outdoor sitting space with a couch big enough to nap on. The grounds are beautifully landscaped and you can sit outdoors in padded chairs in a conversational grouping or out on the lawn in loungers by the pool. Best part is that hippos...

In S:t Lucia this is probably as close to nature and yet walking distance to town centre as you can come. Beautiful garden and pool. We did not see hippos in the garden but were warned. Monkeys and bush babies. Lots of forest birds in local trail. Oh and nice, big and clean rooms, great breakfast. Got help to book...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
St Lucia is the gateway to the beautiful iSimangaliso Wetlands Park, declared South Africa`s first World Heritage Conservation Site in 1999. St Lucia Kingfisher Lodge is situated at the edge of town which means that whilst the shops, restaurants and other amenities are only a 10 minute walk away, the lodge`s delightful gardens blend seamlessly into the surrounding Gwalagwala Forest. The lodge has extensive shady gardens with a wide variety of trees. St Lucia Estuary can be viewed from the end of the garden and the start of the walking trail through the Gwalagwala Forest is next to the front gate. This proximity to nature means that the gardens are home to a wide variety of birds and are often visited by animals such as hippos, various antelope, bush babies and very occasionally leopards. A small swimming pool is available for the exclusive use of guests. Guests are welcome to relax either on sun loungers in the garden, under a poolside shaded area or in the comfortable lounge in the main house. All room rates include a delicious full breakfast which is served in a light and airy dining room offering views of the gardens and estuary. Accommodation at St Lucia Kingfisher Lodge: We offer six unique and private rooms. Each room sleeps two and is equipped with air-conditioning, mosquito nets and a bar fridge for your comfort and convenience. All rooms have en suite facilities and a private shaded patio area. Other facilities at St Lucia Kingfisher Lodge: - Bar Fridge in each suite - Traditional Zulu hair braiding by the experts (go home with a new hairstyle) - All our Suites are non-smoking - Smoking on the patio is permitted - Internet Facilities - Free WiFi - Secretarial Services i.E.: Confirmation of flights, arranging tours/safaris etc ... more   less
