You have to visit this beautifully dynamic little piece of heritage. Modernized comforts, but actively preserving well over a century of history. Our stop-over for decades already, for a truly relaxing evening and excellent breakfast before taking on the long road again.

We really appreciate the kind words. We love the fact that our guest house is a piece of heritage and we try our best to preserve that. Zelda does go the extra mile to ensure that the breakfast puts a smile on every face. Please visit us again. More

I stayed at the 'Cecil John Rhodes' this past weekend with friends and it was absolutely the ideal guesthouse for the holiday weekend that we had intended. To me the main purpose of staying at a guesthouse is to get refreshed and feel more at home when going on trip or short holidays. This guesthouse exceeded all my basic expectations... More

Very friendly staff, amazing rooms and the best atmosphere... All topped off with a great breakfast in the morning and a peaceful garden to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee. Will definitely refer friends and family to stay here.

So sorry that I encouraged my daughter to spend a night here. For the Dinner which cost R220 per person ( supposed to be a home cooked meal) she got a very dried out Chicken Schnitzel, half a gem squash, chips and two cold drinks. That was it! No desert, no starter, nothing. What an absolute rip off....as this was... More

Dear Guest/Mom of guest I am really sad to hear that your daughter had a bad dinner experience at our guest house. I have spoken to my managers to check that the meal came with salad and that desert was offered. I was glad to hear that your daughter was impressed with the breakfast and the accommodation. She promised to... More

We had a lovely stay at this 'old world', charming guest house. The rooms were very spacious, clean and comfortable and the ample secure parking appreciated. Breakfast was superb and tasteful. Thank you for being a super host and 'tour guide', Zelda!

Great service and friendly staff. Clean and tidy rooms with a good breakfast menu, we enjoyed the proximity to town and local pubs. They have made our stay from New Zealand special. The owners were very helpful to show us the local sights and tips on where to go, thank you

If you want a good night's rest do NOT stay here. The block of apartments next door hosts a bunch of drunken youths blowing on Vuvuzela's and behaving badly. The rooms are not soundproof. The rooms are quaint and comfortable. Zelda the lady that checked us in was very sweet and competent. We could even choose our room. It's a... More

It breaks my heart to read this review. The body corporate of the block of flats has promised us to solve the problem, but as you unfortunately experienced, they are not always in control of the barbarians next door. This review does a lot of damage to our beloved guest house, but we understand your complaint completely and apologise. More

This guesthouse is in the middle of town and has everything that is necessary. The rooms was okay and comfortable. The receptionist went out of her way to help us. The breakfast was also nice. Felt a bit impersonal.
