I have stayed in Grootkolk last February and I thought it was great. I'm not sure whether it has been renovated, but it didn't strike me as very old nor dirty. The shower was fine, save for the fact that the water only stayed warm for a few minutes. When you turned it off and on again you got another shot of warm water. But this was just a minor issue to me.
