We enjoyed a nice weekend break in the bush at Bakubung Bush Lodge on 22 April 2016. There is no better way to relax than to be surrounded by nature. The staff were very friendly upon check in and the kids don't every get bored with goign to watch the snake demo offered by the Wildlife Department. The weather was...

First time in a lodge and it won't be the last! located in a crater surrounded by hills, a mixture of time share lodges and hotel, all thatched and in good taste. We stayed in the hotel and the view was over the watering hole where you can see just about anything that cares to turn up such as monkey,...

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Bakubung! The room was small but sufficient, buffet outstanding and staff members very friendly! The view of the waterhole with various animals visiting during the course of the day was stunning and the gamedrives some of the best we ever had (maybe because we were lucky seeing all of the big 5) Somewhat pricey for...

1st time at Bakubung and it won't be my last. What a peaceful place, animals roaming around the reserve basically on your doorstep and the local hippo timeously going for his night foraging and returning at first light, like clock work. Waking up to the sound of multiple birds and Blue Vervet monkeys playing on your roof, just so intouch...

If you want comfort and be close the anmials this is the place. Quite ok. Not very "genuine" but you get food and a game drive included in the price. I would actually prefer this over Kwa Mariatane where i also have stayed.

Since my last review of Bakubung, I've had an opportunity to visit again and found it risen from the ashes of my previous experience. The food's not great - this still needs work (particularly the lunch and dinner) - For example, a chicken mayonaise sandwitch should not have a rough texture no matter how it's made. Apart from the food,...

An easy 2.5 hour drive from Johannesburg, Bakubung provides a Big 5 experience for those who don't have the time to go to Mpumalanga for a safari. The food exceeded our expectations (order a burger from the pool bar for lunch!) and the setting is spectacular - around a waterhole that attracts game, and a beautiful vista over the pilanesberg...

A wonderful place to stay, fantastic location, lovely people. Game drives were amazing with very knowledgeable guides. Saw the Big 5 and much much more. Food and service is exceptional. Best place ever! Don't hesitate to go here - you won't regret it.

We stayed at Bakubung on our first visit back to South Africa in 4+ yrs (having lived in Cape Town for 8 years). After a hectic 'holiday' in Cape Town to visit friends and relive old favorites we took our 10 year old daughter to Bakubung for what (thankfully) turned out to be a truly authentic safari experience. Rather than...

My wife loves this place. Informal and you get a proper holiday. The staff are genuine and always ready to help out. I think the food is excellent as there were 10 of us and all very different requirements. Bush drive and Boma night right up there especially the wonderful signing and dancing as put on by a local school...
