A nice guesthouse in a good neighborhood in Cape Town. The owner is a very nice person and she is always trying to get guests feel at home. The room was cozy and the bed was really comfortable. However, as there are wooden floors all over the place – a fact that is nice and makes the house have a...

Hi Thank you for taking the time to review us, we appreciate your feedback and so happy that our service met your expectations. You will be happy to know that we have had our floors redone bringing back the charm of the original Oregon pine look and fixing some of those cracks you mentioned. As for the sound barrier, being...

I travel mainly on business and managed to grab a few days in Cape Town at the end of a business trip and instead of staying in my normal cooperate hotel decided to pick a guest house and what a pleasurable experience it was. I was attracted to the Avatara on the internet by the pictures of the tranquil, well...

I had the pleasure of staying at the Avatara in the first week of February 2014, while in Cape Town on a business trip. Avatara is run by Cher and her assistant Melanie who are organised, efficient, most welcoming and run an excellent guest house. Avatara is located a short distance above the Main Road in Green Point, which is...

I thoroughly enjoyed my 8 night stay. Cher immediately made me feel welcome and was extremely helpful, with ideas on things to do, as well as providing tips on the local culture. I stayed in Room 6, which was both large and very nicely decorated. The bed was comfortable and I slept well, every night. The room also came with...

I have just come back from 10 days in Cape Town. I needed a place to stay close to my daughter who was staying in Thornie Brae (a block of flats on York Road). The rooms (I had to move once due to the lateness of my booking!) were large and comfortable and smartly furnished with generous shower rooms on...

I stayed here 5 nights for a conference at the V&A Waterfront. It takes 5-10 mins to walk there, and the streets felt safe. No air-conditioning, but the room was comfortable room and the staff were very friendly. Would definitely recommend.

Great experience with a 5 night stay at this very pleasant guest house. My room was beautifully decorated and very pleasant. The breakfast was excellent, with good variety, and hot & cold options. Cher was a charming host, who not only was a great source of travel advice, but also shared fascinating cultural and social insights. I did not have...

Highly recommended B&B, nice clean rooms, and a very nice host (Cher) Cher is assisting in arranging all types of excursions. We went cycling in Stellenbosh (incl winetasting), cage dived with white sharks + other excursions all arranged by Cher. When we will come back to this beautiful city we will stay at Avatara again. A very well appointed guesthouse and a good location for the V&A. Only a 10minute walk to the waterfront or just 20rand taxi. The addition of electric blankets was a god send with it being rather chilly in the evenings! Very friendly staff and an excellent breakfast. Would definitely stay here again

“Quiet neighborhood; no elevator, so stairs to 2nd & 3rd floors; this is a lovingly renovated 19th century house with a few creaky floors, but great charm. Some rooms open into public space, but after breakfast the house feels very private.”
