Our experience at this hotel was excellent. The check in was quick and efficient. Our room had a view of table mountain and was very clean and spacious. All the food that we ate could not be faulted the breakfast was buffet style with a good selection to suit everybody. We used the restaurant one evening and the quality and...

Wonderful hotel not far from the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront and shops. Lovely lobby overlooking the dining area with an outdoor pool and smoking area. Food was excellent and the service very good. In keeping with the old British tradition, all alcoholic beverages are measured which makes for a very small drink. Best to pay for a double so you...

I stayed here on 3 separate occasions whilst in South Africa for work this year, with a colleague who shared my views and therefore went back there as well. The Hotel is in an excellent location being walking distance from the hustle and bustle of the Waterfront but tucked away enough so that you can come back after a day...

This hotel has just been renovated and it shows, excellent rooms. Stayed for 3 nights and after trying 3 rooms (1 even the hotel couldn't get into) found a nice quiet twin bedded room on the back. (which is what we originally asked for) Thank you Craig the duty manager for his assistance. The rooms were spotless and had every...

The PortsWood occupies a fascinating site in Cape Town, being the location of the old jailhouse. The dining room walls are covered in wonderful historic prints and texts, and all the public spaces and corridors are lined with framed pictures reflecting Cape Town's nautical history. The breakfast is excellent, and well worth getting up for! The small, enclosed pool area...

Spent 3 nights at the Portswood at the end of our Africa trip. Lovely hotel, good staff, nice room and a great breakfast. 10 minute walk from the water front where the V&A is situated and the Cape Wheel. It was clean, well managed and nothing to complain about. I'm not sure if there are better hotels closer to the...

the perfect location of this hotel and the polite and helpful staff made our 3 day stay wonderful. The hotel is just a 5 minute walk from the V & A Waterfront. Our room was excellent and would recommend highly.

The room was lovely and the bathroom was very nice as well. We went down for the breakfast buffet on both mornings. The food was good but not amazing. The staff at the buffet all looked quite miserable. The reception staff were more pleasant. Considering what you pay to stay here, it is obvious that you are paying for it's...

A modern hotel, two to three minutes from the V&A. Swift, friendly and efficient check in. Rooms are modern, well equipped with a grey decor which makes them a little dark - but there are spotlights over a desk area (for business travellers). We didn't use the pool, but a small plunge pool is supplemented by use of facilities next...

Everything was just about 'ok' the whole place seemed lacking in leadership. The service was slow and reactive and somewhat surly The pool and surrounding areas were tired and dirty. Breakfast was haphazard The tables were never set up completely and you constantly had to ask for missing items and any drink refills with no guarantee that they would appear....
