We did not stay on sight, we stayed in a separate apartment called "the studio". The apartment itself was really nice, clean, with a great view. However, there were high winds and the walls shaking and wind blowing through cracks kept us up all night. Upon check in, we were not greeted very warmly, in fact no greeting, no attempt...

Hi there Victoria, when making a booking, it states that 2pm is check in time. We had a check out that morning and therefore were unable to offer an early check in when you arrived at 11:30am. I was the person who greeted you and explained all of this; offering you to use the facilities until 2pm or come back...

I was in CPT for about a little more than one week. The hotel is located on the border between Gardens and Tamboerskloof, which both are nice residential areas within a short distance from CPT's main attractions. The amazing Bree Str. with its artsy pubs and restaurants is just few minutes walk from the hotel and we spent much of...

Hey there and thank you for the review! We are so glad that you enjoyed your time with us and appreciated the quirkiness of our hostels and the decor. It's great that you got to explore Cape Town and of course with the kick start from our breakfast. Kind Regards, The Backpack Team.

Hi there. Thanks for the feedback. It's great that you got to try out two of our rooms with great Table Mountain views and get to enjoy the facilities and the delicious, free breakfast we offer daily. The room prices are based on our ability to give back - paying 2.5x the minimum wage, giving free education to staff and...

The hostel is in a good location right near long street. The staff are really helpful and friendly. The hostel is clean and the breakfast that's included is pretty good for a hostel. It has a good atmosphere but we did here of a break in the night before we got there so take a padlock for your bag and...

I've have stayed several times at the backpack, and it has always been a great success and fantastic time doing our stay. Unfortunately the backpack is more like a B&B these days, and it's getting a bit expensive, compared to a few years ago. We stayed in a private Room with private bathroom as well. But besides that, I still...

We stayed at The Backpack for 1 week. This hostel felt safe and staff were helpful. The included breakfast had a good selection and the location is also good, within walking distance to many things. Thanks for a great stay.

We had the pleasure of staying at The Backpack for two weeks and felt at home in friendly and comfortable spaces! Environmental sustainability is embraced and awareness raised in all common areas of the hostel, which makes it stand out and setting an example. Traditional patterns on the wall paper and couches and rooms add a beautiful touch to the...

I was traveling solo and it is a great place to meet people. It is centrally located and the staff is very friendly and helpful. Accommodations are simple but you have everything you need. I booked a room with a private bathroom so it was great and very convenient. You can book all your tours at the front desk and...

The hostel is very well located and the room was very nice. The breakfast was amazing! At least during my stay it didn't seem much of a party hostel and more of a relaxed hotel! The only problem is that the water in the shower takes forever to get warm enough... I ended up taking cold shower so I wouldn't...

Hi there, thank you for the review. It's great that you had a good stay but we do apologise about the water issue. We have recently had the plumber on site to correct some issues and we have also placed buckets into all our showers so we have water for our garden during this water crisis! Kind Regards, The Backpack...

South Africa's original award-winning backpacker hostel and travel agency is simply the best place to make your travel arrangements, with all the facilities you can expect from a hip, urban hostel, such as stylishly decorated Afro-chic rooms offering superior comfort and quality, with shared or en-suite bathrooms, private electronic safes and in-house ATM. Stay in touch in our internet cafe or use WiFi throughout the hostel; swim in the pool with a stunning view of Table Mountain, or meet like-minded international travellers in our buzzing Cafe or Bar. We offer a variety of rooms, ranging from 8- and 4-bed dorms, to singles, twins, doubles and family rooms. We have recently built a loft apartment with amazing views of Table Mountain featuring its own kitchen.
