We arrived to check in at The Charles after a very long journey from the UK. We were rather surpised to be shown to a house at the other end of the street - De Waterkant House. However, our basement room was spacious with an excellent shower room and there was a lounge that we could sit in and a...

We booked a 3 bedroom apt for our family of 5. Apartment was a good 7-10 min walk away from reception, which was the only place with wifi. An accomodation that does not offer wifi these days is really poor. Not to mention the absence of any air conditioning system. With 32 C outside this proved to be very unconfortable!...

The Waterkant is a great solution for those interested to stay in a quite area and close to everything in Cape Town. We stayed in a beautiful apartment located in Loader street, booked with Franklycape.com. Everything was ok, the house was well equipped, clean and we had a wonderful view on the Waterfront area. Plus, we had the garage, very...

My initial impressions were good, partly because of the warm reception. This was however, the noisiest accommodation that I have ever stayed in during my travels to more than 90 countries around the world. If it wasn't the late night noise from the Waterkant Cafe across the road that kept me awake, then it was the constant loud chatter of...

5 of us traveling together for work. We booked a 2 bedroom and a 3 bedroom place. Pros: The 2 stars are mostly for location, but the one staff person we met was nice and the apt we were in on Loder st was fairly clean. Also we were able to drop our bags off at reception in the morning...

Stayed in a modernised cottage. Friendly and helpful reception area and staff. Delightful accommodation; very clean, small lounge/diner/kitchen downstairs and huge bedroom upstairs, with shower, bath and wc. Self catering worked very well (decent supermarket only 200m away) but plenty of bars and restaurants nearby and V&A Waterfront is only 20 minutes walk iof you want more variety.

BEWARE!! I stayed 10nights in an apartment at 28 Dixon Street with my mum and while the reception staff were lovely I had the unfortunate experience of having more than US$540 stolen from the apartment safe. As it was money that I wasn't using ( I had sufficient Rands to spend and probably had some of those stolen as well)...

This is not a hotel. You will be staying in a condo with a kitchen, small living room and a bedroom. There was no room service while we stayed there, so don't expect anybody to clean your room daily. The area around this development is pretty safe with 24/7 security. The manager will help you with making reservations (wine country...

This is honestly the best place to stay. I have rented apartments literally 6 times. The apartments are if very high standard, very clean and staff are amazing. I love this area .. Lots of little cafes .. manhatten pub... Cape quadrant shopping mall which is full of trendy boutiques and restaurants. Definitely would give 10 out of 10

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Colourful De Waterkant Village is a unique European influenced village of semi-detached quaint cottages and cobbled streets preserved from the 1760's. Cradled between the city and the V&A Waterfront, De Waterkant Village is avant-garde, a cultural urban refuge highlighted by the abundance of restaurants, art galleries, clubs, salsa clubs, tapas bars and Parisian inspired cafe's. Drawing comparisons from cultural and artistic villages from all over the world, De Waterkant embraces individuality and theatricality, echoed in the architecture and vibrancy of its residents and visitors. From serviced apartments, houses, guest houses and traveller's rooms De Waterkant Village has it all and lodgings at the village are as diverse and eclectic as the place itself. In keeping with the feel of an authentic traveller's village, guests can enjoy services and facilities when staying in apartments or houses, such as a service centre, concierge, housekeeping and breakfast at The Village Cafe every morning. ... more   less
