We thoroughly enjoyed our short stay at An African Villa. Lovely rooms with all amenities, excellent breakfast. Great common areas for relaxing the library, garden and pool. We were given excellent tips for restaurants (that we could walk to) and areas to explore.

What a perfect place to stay to get our 2 week adventure in South Africa and Zimbabwe started! The place is in a very quiet neighborhood, great for getting to and from attractions. The hospitality was over the top, and couldn't of asked for anymore. In a town with a ton of options to stay if there is a place... More

I found this hotel on Trip Advisor and booked it through their service. As another reviewer noted, it is more like a guest house than a traditional hotel which made the stay (at least in my opinion) that much better. The hotel is comprised of three townhouses that have been combined into a single unit. Staff were wonderful - friendly,... More

Cape Town was the first leg of our travels throughout Africa and we were thrilled with An African Villa. We arrived late at night and were greeted warmly and immediately by the gentleman working nights (September 18th). After touring the property and making sure we were familiar with the amenities and settled into our room, we already felt at home.... More

We stayed in an upstairs room with a view of Table Mountain. You could see the mountain from the bed when you woke up. The room was large and comfortable. Keith helped us plan things to do and provided us with a map. He also welcomed us with a cold beverage (we chose a beer). It was much appreciated after... More

Our first visit to Cape Town...... An African Villa is a first class boutique hotel/guest house. It is a small, family run place comprising three adjoining residences....... And the service is very personal..... The attention to detail is astonishing, the accommodation is modern and yet colonial in style and the breakfast is really good. Both the night staff and the... The service from the moment we checked in was great. We were given a tour of the hotel, as well as a complete explanation on what to do, where to go for food, an overview of Cape Town, and information on tours/activities we had interest in. They always made sure we were taken care of through our entire stay. The... More

After a ten day Kruger Park trip and 27 hours cross country train ride, the hotel was a bliss exceeding all my expectations... Very elegantly decorated, immaculately clean, cosy, very helpful staff (would like to specifically thank Keith and his lovely wife), wonderful view of the Table Mountain, 5 minutes walk to Kloof str., very satisfactory breakfast and attention to... This is our 5th stay here. Over the years the place has kept a consistent quality as a boutique hotel. The charm of colonial townhouses converted into the hotel feels like you are saying in a local neighbourhood and not a tourist zone. The Kieth and staff continue to be helpful with plans for the day and like good friends,... More

We stayed at An African Villa for three nights at the end of a Garden Route tour, choosing it on the strength of TripAdvisor recommendations, and it absolutely lived up to expectations, from the moment one of the five-person management team, Keith, welcomed us with a very thorough introduction to the property and its neighbourhood. I'm not sure whether it's... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
This Villa is much more than that! It is in fact three houses which are part of a Victorian terrace dating from 1892. The double story houses have been joined together and so the inside spaces are much larger than the facade suggests. It's like walking into a TARDIS someone has written on Tripadvisor! There are 12 rooms and the hotel is owner managed.Location is vital when choosing a spot for you vacation and this more than a Villa is within an easy walk of all tourist attractions in the city area. The others (like the fabulous beaches) are a short taxi ride away. There is a small plunge pool in a peaceful courtyard where a very full breakfast is served in summer. (In winter there's a sociable dining room and an eco-friendly fire blazing). Your hosts are very careful to offer you as much information as you want and they will arrange car rental, restaurant reservations, tours etc. As required.Free internet on 2 computers in a library area and wireless access is available in all rooms. At night the night porter will set out complimentary sherry and port and at other times there is an honesty bar and guest fridge in the kitchen. Parking is on street and there is no charge (street guards patrol) but you should not need a car from this well placed hotel. ... more   less
