We traveled with a group of friends for a 10th anniversary vow renewal, 15 people altogether. The resort itself is very nice, not on par with Secrets Resorts but still nice. It is a very large resort so plan on a lot of walking. Do some research and see if you can book a villa close to the main lobby area, that's where all of the main restaurants are located as well as the Infinity Bar which hosts most of the late night since they have closed the night club. The food is very hit and miss for my tastes. The steakhouse seemed to be luck of the draw on if you get a quality cut. The Italian was average. The Mexican was pretty good. The salsa and guacamole were very good. The hibachi grill was the best of the main dining. I recommend booking your reservation for this as soon as you arrive, very limited seating if you want to sit with the chefs while they prepare your hibachi. Hands down the best food is the jerk chicken prepared on the beaches/pool areas during the day. Fantastic! The rooms were clean and our views were great. We had two balconies, one facing ocean and one facing adult pool area. We did have some problems with our room, safe didn't work upon arrival but fixed promptly, refrigerator did not work and never got fixed,l and we had to call twice for our toilet to be fixed. The AC went out for about 12 hours our last day and didn't get fixed until about 2am. Very uncomfortable trying to sleep. The beach areas were very nice and the main pool is the largest I've ever seen at a resort. They have pool activities but not a ton. Both areas were very relaxing. Would like to compliment some of the employees that took great care of our large group, Jean at the Infinity Bar, Janelle our server at the pool and Tessa who took care of our needs at The Spa. Last, just make sure you understand the workers do not work at a brisk pace and wait times for food and drinks take longer than other escorts I have visited.

I see no reviews have been left since Sept 2021. The hotel is under new ownership, and I have to say that we were abit disappointed with our stay. It appears that a number of people are living at the hotel on long term rentals, and although I can not confirm this, that is the impression we got. Very basic room, almost no amenities (two small conditioners instead of a conditioner and a shampoo), beds clean but lots of hair found on the bathroom floor. Very basic local SA TV channels with bad signal that cut out often. Air conditioning that dripped on the floor and left stains. Very run down, cracking walls, peeling paint and not a great smell. Window taped on the edges to stop leaking. Some rice spilt on the hallway floor which was still there in the morning. No breakfast available, not even a morning coffee included in our stay, and for the price we paid we felt that was unreasonable. Came down in the morning to sit outside, and the outside tables were full of empty beer bottles and cigarette butts and food wrappers left everywhere, like no one had cleaned in a while. Just not suitable for a hotel stay, however simple/basic. Dining area, bar etc was completely deserted, only someone at reception and 1 or two people who appeared to maybe be staff but dressed in casual clothing so hard to say. Sadly I would not recommend this hotel, which is unfortunate as I have visited it in years before and it was lovely.

This is one of those awesome unpretentious hotels that I would return to any time. It is quiet and peaceful with lovely surrounds. The place is neat and clean, and the hospitality by the professional staff most welcoming. Our hosts, two gentlemen namely Syms and Theo deserve accolades for their most professional and efficient service. The breakfast was great and the chef friendly and helpful. Everything in the room and en-suite was neat and working well. Thank you and well done! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Although the hotel is a little tired and in need of a revamp this was more than made up for by the friendliness of the staff and excellent breakfasts. We stayed on two occasions at the start and end of our trip to South Africa and on the first occasion we had a large room which was clean and tidy (if a little tatty) and there were niggling things like the toilet not flushing properly. The second room was much smaller but the beds were very comfortable and most importantly the rooms were kept very clean. Good value and will definitely go back especially as the location is so good - situated just being the Mount Nelson Hotel

We arrived at the hotel and had an issue with our booking which was NOT the fault of the hotel. They assured us all will be fine and solved the problem very quickly. Whenever we had any queries, they were eager to help. Nothing was ever too much trouble. All members of staff were very friendly. We were very impressed with the breakfast menu and took advantage of it. The breakfast staff also helped to surprise my partner with a cake and champagne on his birthday. I would definitely recommend staying with them and I’d be happy to return.

We were booked into the hotel for a night on our way to Montagu and then another night before flying home. The hotel is in serious need of a revamp. The bathrooms are tired with loose or missing rails, mouldy shower curtains. Carpet throughout are dirty. The reception on our return stay (a Mr Alex or Alexander) suffers from small man syndrome leading to an extremely frustrating stay. Were the hotel not booked and paid for we would have vacated the establishment. The only saving grace was the head chef who made some nice eggs in the morning.

What a gem. The staff are so lovely. I really enjoyed staying here. It was clean and affordable. It isn't the most glamorous of places, but I felt safe welcome and at home here. Will definitely be back. Was also a great spot for travelling to the argus starting point (cape town cycle tour).
