I loved the place. It has mesmerising view to offer. The location is prime. Very near to restaurants, petrol pumps and waterfront. Very clean rooms and kitchen. The kitchen is occupied with all the equipments and functional. The breakfast is also provided which you can have in your room. The beds have electric blankets too.

Good location, great view of Heads and lagoon. Friendly host. Good breakfast, although some yoghurt with the muesli would have been nice. Slow Wi-Fi connection. Quite a staircase to master with luggage! Not latest style and look, but all equipment in working order. Electric blankets were great with some extra cold nights!

The location is really great, the view on the lagun is as on the photos, and the breakfast was good. However, we felt unwelcomed the second we arrived. The tenants were not polite, forgot to give us useful information such as check out time (and then we have been basically kicked out). Not a single "hello", or "thank you". It... More

Very nice view. A bit of a climb to get there. Value for money certainly. If you do not like Christian messages all over avoid as there are a few. Breakfast is included. It's simple but good. An egg omelette with bacon, bread to toast yourself a little muesli and some orange juice

Perfectly situated for the Knysna forest marathon, or any other events, walking distance from town with beautiful views over the lagoon. Peaceful tranquil setting amongst the trees, set un a cul de sac with zero traffic noise. Good value for money with friendly helpful host. Thank you Adri, I wil be back with rest of the family.

We enjoyed staying at Protea and will recommend it to anyone! The small extra touches, made our stay very comfortable. If you enjoy a homely feel, lost in a tropical garden, this is recommended! All the necessities are considered and catered for.

We stayed at Protea House for three weeks and couldn't have been more comfortable. We were in the two bed roomed cottage and although the facilities are fairly simple the stunning view and excellent service more than made up for it. In fact the simplicity of the place is part of its charm. The owners made us feel very welcome... More

The guest house is situated on a hill overlooking the lagoon. The view from the cottage terrace is perfect in the evening and maybe even better in the morning. The rooms are clean, but there are signs of wear and tear in the fixtures so don't expect anything too fancy. Seems like a good place for families as well as... More

“I would say if you go off season don't book ahead ,rather go to the tourist information who are very helpful ,off season you would never not get in somewhere ,that goes for the whole of the cape .”

“The 1st cottage has a good view. All the rooms are very spacious. There are steps to climb so if you have dodgy knees or hips, it is not a good idea.”

“Both single cottages are very nice but Suikerbekkie has got bigger table on its balcony. So it will be more convenient to have a meal there. Subjectively a view from the balcony is a bit better as well.”
