Just outside the town .Each little e house had its own space and the gardens were pretty. The staff were quite friendly and helpful. The food was quite nice but the menu for dinner is the same every night. The rooms were looking a little tired some handles missing and the outside table needed a good wipe. The owner was...

Arrived to be greeted by a young lady who was very pleasant and showed us to our room. The information in the room told us timing for breakfast but little else. I had previously read somewhere that the restaurant was not always open so we went to enquire at reception to be told that unfortunately the restaurant was closed that...

Nice big room and bathroom with quirky little touches but a but tired looking generally. Buffet style breakfast and dinner, the food was adequate and tried Ostich steak for the first time. Grounds and pool area very nice but but no garden lights back to the room after dinner made it a bit of hazardous walk. We stayed for just...

Old character hotel that seems to have seen better days. Our room was poorly maintained with missing light bulbs and an ancient dirty shower. However other were given very nice rooms so seems a matter of chance. Seemed that there was a shortage of staff and a bit chaotic in organisation. Garden lights were not switched on after dinner and...

Lovely big rooms with modern bathrooms and lovely little touches in the rooms like bathrobes, fresh rosemary, and yummy biscuits. The gardens are beautiful, pool was great and staff were helpful and friendly. Unfortunately the air conditioning was not working on our first night and we had to ask a few times about this before we got moved to another...

I have to admit that when we arrived tired and hot after our air con not working and a long drive I was not in the best of moods and when we found a note to say to go the restaurant if arriving late (7pm) I did question what we were doing here. BUT on being shown into our quaint...

This Country Lodge cannot be faulted. Unusual, quirky and beautiful gardens. We only stayed one night. The food was excellent and we wished we could have stayed longer. Our room had a verandah and an evening there was just magic.

This has been our 5th stay at De Opstal and we wouldn't stay anywhere else in Oudtshoorn. We are always made so welcome by Matilda, Albertus and all the staff, it is like coming home! Rooms and bathrooms are spacious with wonderful furnished stoeps. The gardens and pool area are delightful. A lovely place to stay in a beautiful valley.

We had a huge room here with a massive open fire that we lit and enjoyed from a big comfortable sofa. It was very romantic! We had a big double bed, the area was very quiet and sleep quality was excellent. Everything worked in our room and the wifi was fast and free. There was a porch with rocking chairs...
