We were there for a night. Staff was very kind, food was good, rooms comfortable and spacious, and very close (20' drive) from the Cango Caves (a definate must do). If possible, get the first tour (9am) into the caves. That way you wont have any groups ahead and will be the ones to "open" the cave that day.

What a nice place to wind down, after along day of touring this beautiful country. Quiet, and in the country side, bird life good. Rooms have space to move around in, with en suite bathroom. Get to a nice cold room, in from the heat in the small karoo.

The setting and gardens are perfect. A good start. The room had good AC and wifi Nice touch was getting my car washed overnight. It needed it! The restaurant needs modernising. The place is a bit stuck in the dark past 1990s. We want modern tables and chairs and bright fresh high quality breakfast buffet. The hotel merits a high...

Finding the place out of the main town is a challenge. Warm welcome on arrival We realised that some TLC is needed & bathing robes would be a nice touch for wandering to & from the pool. As first time visitors we suggest staff are more knowledgable as to what attractions are suitable - lots of Ostrich farms and provide...

We were impressed by the warm welcome from the owner on arrival who made every effort to make sure we we comfortably settled in and had all our needs catered for. Our room was a bit tired and in need of an update but perfectly adequate for our overnight stay. The grounds were beautiful and we had the use of...

A very comfortable and relaxing stay just out of Oudtshoorn, perfect for visiting the Cango caves and local ostrich farms. Rooms are fully appointed and comfortable and the staff are helpful and friendly. Good quality breakfast and evening meals but 2 nights perfect unless you want to drive into Oudtshoorn for an evening meal. Great location for driving through the...

Fabulous place in beautiful location and very relaxed. Food lovely. Very friendly and helpful. Wifi a bit slow, safe small and limited main food choice but that didn't matter as it' s cooked wonderfully and as its a little bit of paradise! Will definitely come again!

I stayed here for one night with my family, and one night was enough. The family rooms were spacious, but should be renovated. The windows could not be shut properly, resulting in us finding 4 giant spiders in our rooms when we were about to go to bed. The spiders had probably emerged because of the afternoon rain. I collected...

We stayed at The Thorntree for the night of 18 March 2015. It is a lovely family type hotel, with little chalets around the property and two pools. The owners are on hand most of the time, mingling with residents. The food was really nice and the room lovely. The grounds are so well kept. Will really go back there...
