the place was easy to be allocated and very clean and secure, however I think the management needs to look at the steel lockers they are not in a good condition I realized few of them where broken and I had to travel up and down with my backpack since I didn't want to loose my belongings.

Arrived at what felt felt like a rowdy Glasgow bar, so homesick I was not, but not the most promising intro to a hostel perhaps. However, Hilary (my sister's name - he seemed quite chuffed) took me up a couple of flights, through three keyed gates - Hilary cheerfully pointing out the difference in the keys he handed me, with no outspread paw for tip - just happy to help - he even turned down my offer of a drink - good guy. Did feel a bit like Norman Stanley Fletcher at first, but I had only one night's porridge to do, with no hard labour. Seemed secure enough at least. A massive rather rundown self-catering dorm all to myself - comfy enough - a book exchange rack outside, that I took advantage of. Back at street level, drunken revelry was in full swing of local colour early on a Saturday evening in Downtown Stella - couldn't be more central on the square. Probably I did something wicked, for there was no peace to be had anywhere in Stella that night - the most inescapable BOOM BOOM BOOM I've had in Half of Af. The Decibel is King. (Eventually found a very pleasant oasis from the Stellar Din; unfortunately it shut execrably early - still, Douglas Wagtail the barman was also keen on birding, so a most pleasant wee soiree.) Although iKhaya bar was even more raucous on return, a Trappist monkastery compared with some (e.g. that Cuban place on the corner of the square - am I getting fogeyish?) - a couple or so nightcaps were enjoyed. Being a couple of storeys & locked gates up, the bangarang was muffled, and I whistled myself off to Nod like a jailbird with no guilted cage. Next morning, having slept like a hairy baby, was greeted by genial Jambo, who confirmed the Sunday train times to Cape Town - an easy saunter through what is an attractive (hungover-to-hell) town by light of day. Head was thumping, but all in all, a worthwhile fugitive stay.

Although the place was clean, the fact that they don't give you a remote for the gate at the parking cause my children to nearly miss their items they had to participate in. They told us there will always be someone to open the gate, witch was not the case. Also people siting in the halls , drinking and swearing until what time in the morning is quite disturbing

Quite impossible to describe how bad this place is... leakage, loudness, cold water (or water being so hot that you cannot shower, destroyed carpets. Dirty sofa's you do not dare to sit on. Located above a bar, drunk crowd constantly screaming. Avoid avoid avoid !!!

We stayed for one night in a private room and are very glad that we did not stay any longer. -Rude person at check-in. The person at the counter the next day was very pleasant and friendly. -Sheets and pillows had stains. Gross -Each room (private room, dorm, bathroom) has its own musty moldy smell -The room has just a bare bulb on the ceiling, no electrical outlets that we could find, and no fan on a very hot day (even if there was an outlet to plug into) Overall, there are many places to stay in the Stellenbosch area and I would advise staying elsewhere.

The room is well kept, clean and value for money. Management quick to respond to queries, e.g. repairing of the broken down fridge. Although there is currently water crisis in town, this facility had adequate water during my stay.

Last year I was backpacking through South East Asia for three months, but this was without a doubt the worst hostel I’ve ever stayed at. There was one toilet to share between 10 people. The light didnt work. The room was incredibly hot and the fan made absolutely no difference. There was mold on the walls. Everytime someone showered the room would get flooded. But none of these things were as bad as the despicable treatment we received from the owner. He is possibly the rudest man I’ve ever met and shouted at us at least 3 times. People like that shouldnt be working in hospitality. Furthermore, because the hostel had an over-booking problem, I overpaid by R400. This was not given back to me. The owner just said he would email Hostelworld and ask them to reverse the transaction. After all this we tried to cancel our last night (with 24 hours notice) but were told that they dont do any cashbacks or refunds.

I stay here for two days and is was not good. You have just your room with an dirty bathroom, there is no living room to meet oder travelers. All they have is a small pup without WiFi. I can’t recommend this place. Michael

Terrible beds, rooms are located on 2nd floor, without elevator (not ok if you cary a suitcase..), definitely not a clean place, weird people around. Bar with an awkward reputation on the ground floor. Wifi not working. Shout out to nice staff and a private parking place.
