I wanted to stay at a hotel towards the end of my trip after having stayed in hostels. I picked Circus Hostel and Hotel based on the rave reviews but unfortunately I was disappointed for many reasons. I think the rave reviews are based on the place as a hostel. It's great as a hostel. Great location, pool table, pretty... More

After using Hotel Circus' luggage storage service at the lobby (main door closed and Hotel Circus is the unique owner of the key) when I did the check-out, my suitcase was not there (was stolen) when I tried to pick it up. You can imagine my surprise and Hotel Circus said that they did not know what happened. A nightmare... More

Excellent. The breakfast was absolutely wonderful with a choice of fruits, cereals and cakes. The rooms were clean and well organised with the beds being labelled. The staff were also very helpful. I would definitely recommend.

Nice hostel, excellent location and great staff. Basic rooms but they do come with aircon, which was nice (and necessary). Rooms are serviced daily. We booked a quad room but were offered a double and a twin room before we arrived- which was very nice. Good breakfast included in the price - fresh fruits, cereals, pastries, bread rolls, juice and... More

We stayed at Circus for 8 nights, using the hostel/hotel as a base for our Buenos Aires trip. I would not recommend staying here for more than a couple of nights. The rooms are nice for a hostel, but we encountered multiple issues. We booked and paid for a private-room for the entirety of our stay a couple months in... More

We booked for twin room but they only had recorded as double, however the staff were helpful in splitting the bed and getting sorted. The apartment was comfortable and spacious, good for family, and moderately equipped kitchen, but no breakfast with this apartment and no food supplies at all, so needed to find a supermarket and stock up. The location... More

Perfect location in Montserrat by San Telmo. Rooms are clean and tidy. There's a great pool table downstairs. For the summer, there's a small pool outside too. Breakfast is adequate. Staff are friendly. Tips for getting around - most places in town are within walking distance, taxis and ubers are cheap, as is public transport.

The Hostel was quite good. The staff was willing to help you with everything and giving you advice to visit different buildings. The tour through the neighbourhood was very helpfull as well. About the room we were happy. The beds were good and they kept it very clean. Unfortunately there is only one toilet & one shower for 6 people.... More

Staying in San Telmo

Neighbourhood Profile
San Telmo
Characterized by cobblestones and narrow streets, San Telmo is defined by the tango, the dance that made Buenos Aires world-famous. Tango is a fusion of many different cultures: a true child of immigration, much like the city itself. Nowadays, it comes alive after dark in the milongas (dance parties) attended by both locals and visitors alike, who dance until the wee hours of the morning. During the day, the antique shops and classic cafés and bars around Plaza Dorrego dominate the scene. The emblematic Bar Plaza Dorrego, with its green awnings, checkered tile floors, and wooden interiors, takes you back in time the moment you step inside. For true porteño traditions, San Telmo is the place to be.

“The apartment we were put in did not come with breakfast, which is ok because there are kitchen utensils but you should ask how to get to the nearest supermarket. If you want help close by then make sure to check your room is in the main hostel building.”
