Friendly hosts and a great sense of community. Santo & Xavier were very helpful and made us feel at home. There was a nice roof top patio and a light breakfast in the morning. Perfect location- lots of character! Great value

Loved the Lugar. Simple accommodations and food but warm environment in great location. Our room had great view of church next door. The owners are very sweet. Bed was a little hard and the place could use some redecorating but for the price it can't be beat.

This wonderful place is located in the heart of San Telmo, right next to Plaza Dorrego in the historical area of San Telmo. By foot the city centre is only about 15 minutes away. The place itself is located on the upper floors of a beautiful historical building. Small and cosy place with lovely details and a great rooftop terrace...

Booked for three nights. A delayed flight left me tired and exhausted. Decided to stay and sleep early and informed the owner accordingly. Around 1030PM loud noise, music talking woke me.Peeped out and realized that owner had a private party across my room on an open terrace. Thought it just might get over soon, went back to bed. Around 1230AM...

This gay B&B is in the heart of old Buenos Aires and is part of the reason BA is now one of my favorite cities in the world. The rooms range from totally private and spacious to almost youth hostel which is fun and makes the crowd diverse. Clothing optional sunbathing in the rooftop patio with a hot tub and...

Lugar Gay was a great place to develop a sense of home in Buenos Aires. It was a bit off season so there were not a lot of travelers there, but Santo and Javier were kind, welcoming, and very professional in their management of this property. My room was beautiful- high ceilings, spacious, comfortable bed, and nice clean bathroom. I...

I stayed here for 5 nights in late May and highly recommend it to any guys travelling solo or with friends. The staff are really friendly without being obtrusive and no issue is a problem. I had lost a few items (externally not within the hotel) and the staff went above and beyond to help me. It's also a great...

Have been here four times and always a great experience. The place is quite hidden in the middle of San Telmo, but once you found it you never want to go back. It has a great vibe and easy to meet other guys for a chat or drink. Easy to get into the city or just relax on the big...

I stayed in Lugar Gay 5 nights, extended 2 to my planned 3 because I really liked the socializing atmosphere there where it felt like in a family or group of friends. Santo and Javier did all their best with advices and help in every asked question. They did a lot of effort to treat the costumers very nice and...

Javier, Santo and all the other friendly staff made me feel so welcome. Nothing was any trouble and always full of great advice about Buenos Aires. My first trip to South America Herbert it won't be my last. Delicious breakfast each morning. Comfortable rooms with a lovely courtyard garden.

Staying in San Telmo

Neighbourhood Profile
San Telmo
Characterized by cobblestones and narrow streets, San Telmo is defined by the tango, the dance that made Buenos Aires world-famous. Tango is a fusion of many different cultures: a true child of immigration, much like the city itself. Nowadays, it comes alive after dark in the milongas (dance parties) attended by both locals and visitors alike, who dance until the wee hours of the morning. During the day, the antique shops and classic cafés and bars around Plaza Dorrego dominate the scene. The emblematic Bar Plaza Dorrego, with its green awnings, checkered tile floors, and wooden interiors, takes you back in time the moment you step inside. For true porteño traditions, San Telmo is the place to be.
