This is a beautiful hotel in a lovely residential area of Buenos Aires. The lobby is light-filled, the room we had was spacious and clean. The staff was very helpful. Be aware they warned us not to wear expensive watches outside the hotel and two men who we knew about did indeed have their watches stolen off their wrists during...

Sofitel are a relatively safe pair of hands in terms of hospitality and this hotel is not exception. There is a high, light reception hall with a large comfortable bar just off it, plus restaurant. The staff are helpful with an exceptional command of English. Our room was on the 2nd floor - we'd preferred to be higher as the...

Nice lobby and common areas. We were put in a junior suite which was very commodious. Pretty, clean, comfortable and windows opened for fresh air. Nice neighborhood. Good restaurants in easy walking distance. (Try the restaurant hidden in the basement of the flower shop across the street.) Had just stayed in the Intercontinental Hotel a couple km south, and the...

Lovely traditional Hotel. Has a lovely feel to it. Spacious rooms. Good amenities. (But the swimming pool is VERY small- if 2 people swim together it is very crowded!). Good busy bar in the evening. Breakfast OK, but there can be problems with the staff understanding English.

This very charming hotel is a good choice for both tourism and business meetings. The structure is beautiful, the rooms are nice and with really comfortable beds, extremely clean. Breakfast and the restaurant are excellent, the service difficult to beat, the location is very convenient, close to Recoleta and shopping areas. Wi-Fi works quite well but not in all rooms....

This was our second visit to Buenos Aires and our second time staying at the Sofitel. We previously stayed here in 2015. This is a great hotel with extremely friendly and helpful staff. We stayed for 3 nights before we boarded our cruise and then returned to the hotel for one night after our cruise before our flight home. The...

What a wonderful city full of food destinations of delight. Paublo, of the concierge service, was on point in figuring out what type of restaurant we would be most happy. He was truly gifted in seeing our uniqueness. The breakfast in the hotel was superb and the staff throughout the hotel was friendly and gifted.

Beautiful property. At check in, concierge was very helpful. Bar service was excellent. Clean, large rooms. Breakfast service was terrible. The food was not replenished on buffet. After three requests to a variety of waitstaff over the course of thirty minutes and condescending "that's not my problem" responses, we were less than pleased with the service. Expected more from a...

We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights during a recent trip. The location is wonderful-on a quiet side street but within easy walking distance to great shops, restaurants and parks. The staff were friendly and efficient. Our room was large with a very comfortable bed, nice linens and amenities and good wifi. We were able to check in early...

This is my second trip to BA and first time at the Sofitel there. This is a luxury hotel in a pleasant part of BA. We stayed in a standard room which was sophisticated in style, although not overly large. The wardrobe was small and there was no tea and coffee making facilities. The room had a safe that was...

Staying in Retiro

Neighbourhood Profile
Retiro
Exquisite palaces and luxurious apartment buildings combine with art galleries and exclusive boutiques to make Retiro the perfect spot for those who enjoy sophistication. However, the non-stop foot traffic to and from Retiro train and bus terminals, accompanied by the myriad of trucks leaving and arriving at the port, mean this neighbourhood is never truly at rest. One minute you are walking down a street dotted with ornate mansions and luxurious shop windows and the next you find yourself surrounded by a sea of people racing to catch their train or bus. It is this juxtaposition of never-ending comings and goings and quiet, elegant luxury that defines Retiro, as well as Buenos Aires, a city where sharp contrasts are all around.
