Although the hotel is rated 5*, our room was showing its age - damaged wallpaper, marks on walls, peeling paint and plaster. Needs a refresh. WiFi on the slow side. Breakfast was limited and they tended to run out of the small number of hot...More

Not really luxurious but a very good Value. The management was pleasant and helpful, and the hotel was very clean. The rooms were attractive and ours had a balcony as well. The neighborhood was attractive and close to Recoleta and Subte lines and convenient to...More
Big rooms with all facilities (safe, TV, fridge) and a roof top pool - too small for swimming but sun beds and a place to dip in. Breakfasts are good by Argentine standards. Good location for northern part of city and Plaza Mayo is walkable...More

Exquisite palaces and luxurious apartment buildings combine with art galleries and exclusive boutiques to make Retiro the perfect spot for those who enjoy sophistication. However, the non-stop foot traffic to and from Retiro train and bus terminals, accompanied by the myriad of trucks leaving and arriving at the port, mean this neighbourhood is never truly at rest. One minute you are walking down a street dotted with
ornate mansions and luxurious shop windows and the next you find yourself surrounded by a sea of people racing to catch their train or bus. It is this juxtaposition of never-ending comings and goings and quiet, elegant luxury that defines Retiro, as well as Buenos Aires, a city where sharp contrasts are all around.

We hired a taxi from one of the taxi companies that are inside the airport tucked in a corner. We were told the one just outside was more expensive. They all post their flat rate price in US dollars and Argentinian. We picked the lowest and prepaid with visa. I think it was about $30 US. It worked well.
