We stayed at this hotel for a few days and the location is good. As mentioned in earlier reviews there are a number of levels and you can have a lot of stairs, so if you are not young and fit you may find their sister accommodation in Montserrat a better option as it has a lift (I did). We...

The place is very interesting and we appreciated the art and unusual architecture. We think the intention to run a hostel\hotel is good but there is something missing in oversight of the business. We came in the bad time for the hotel, as it was damaged by the rainstorm with leaking and broken roof. On our first morning , maybe...

Bonito is a beautiful, quirky place right in San Telmo. All rooms are decorated differently and very cosy - if your budget allows: get one with private terrace! They also have a parilla on the roof top to add some view to your homemade steak! So this makes for a perfect little hide-out in the city.

This is an outstanding hotel with nice special atmosphere in a good location. However hotel's staff seem to be too lazy and light-minded. They try to help, give advice but when you ask something the answer is most of the time I don't know, without willingness to check and at least a pretension of to be involved. The reception lady...

Bonito is a great, quirky, arty, B&B, close to some great restaurants, bars & entertainment. It's only a few blocks from Plaza Dorrégo with it's nightly tango dancing, eateries & bars, plus it's walking distance to Puerto Madero & Plaza de Mayo. The staff were wonderful, friendly & helpful, Yanina booked us on several tours & recommended places to visit....

The Bonito San Telmo is a unique and quirky B&B;. It has a main floor consisting of a living room with a piano, a small reception area, a capacious kitchen, a dining room with a large table, and two bedrooms. There are five other bedrooms or suites on two or three upper floors connected by a warren of indoor and...

Stayed here for few days after a long flight. Place feels more of a really nice hostel than a traditional hotel. It's entrance is more like one to a private house and might be hard to find, especially in the night time. We luckily had asked for their taxi service in advance and didn't have any problems. Rooms are a...

Staying in San Telmo

Neighbourhood Profile
San Telmo
Characterized by cobblestones and narrow streets, San Telmo is defined by the tango, the dance that made Buenos Aires world-famous. Tango is a fusion of many different cultures: a true child of immigration, much like the city itself. Nowadays, it comes alive after dark in the milongas (dance parties) attended by both locals and visitors alike, who dance until the wee hours of the morning. During the day, the antique shops and classic cafés and bars around Plaza Dorrego dominate the scene. The emblematic Bar Plaza Dorrego, with its green awnings, checkered tile floors, and wooden interiors, takes you back in time the moment you step inside. For true porteño traditions, San Telmo is the place to be.

“Rooms are cold if you stay not in summer and we didn't see any heating system. So try to ask for a sun side room.”

“When you arrive don’t expect to find a sign at the entrance; go by the street address. Even if you think you are not interested in tango, don’t miss the tango show which the staff can book for you. A collector van will pick you up at the Bonito, deliver you to the tango dinner theate, and bring you back. The six couples who dance the tango are outstanding as is the six person orchestra. The cost for the show and the transportation is something like $20 each, an incredible bargain. In addition, the restaurant serves really great food from an extensive menu, the waiters are top notch, and the food and drink prices are very reasonable.”
