Let me start off by saying that I never write bad reviews, but I want to warn people about this place. I'll also point out that I have been backpacking Australia/Asia for over two years now so I have stayed in many, many hostels, guest houses. This place is 'a joke'. These are the words of the new receptionist at... More

Great location. Beautiful clean rooms in an old building. Street noise is quite loud at night. Breakfast is the standard white bread and dulce de leche you'll find everywhere in Argentina. Variable knowledge and helpfulness from staff. We did return one afternoon to find our bags were not as we left them, some small items (cheap souvenir jewellery) and a... More

We read the reviews of people getting robbed here, and while that's awful, why on earth would you EVER leave money lying around?!?! This place is not the cleanest, and the breakfast is just bread, but the coffee and showers are strong and hot. The location is awesome, if you have common sense and are not shocked by working-class neighborhoods... More

Its OK for one night. When I rang the bell to ask for a room, the guy quoted me 150, when I returned later, he said 130, LOL! Their web site says 130, so try for that price. There was a vacant two bed room (bunk beds), but they put me in a room (top bunk) with a guy that... More

Quite apart from anything else, SECURITY is an issue at Telmotango. When I stayed there in January 2015 I left a bag with spare clothes with reception staff to look after while I went to Patagonia, When I returned they told me my bag was "missing". The rooms are also not secure and most appear not to have any kind... More

The guys working in the reception are not service-minded at all. Wonder why they have this business when they are not interested in helping out their guests? I have read some good reviews about this place and how friendly they are, must be them writing a review about themselves to upgrade the ratings. These guys are sitting in the reception... More

This place could have been a really nice one and a great value for the money. The reception staff however makes it one of the worst places we've been to (Travelling 5 months). They are unwilling to help you, don't seem to care about the guests AT ALL. The only thing they do is play videogames and listen to rock,... More

Below average quality stay, noisy at most times since the receptionist (George) plays his vedio games very very loudly all the time as well as loud music. Rooms are in a horrible structure and have got horrible settings. Clean maybe a little bit but the whole place doesn't give you a pleasant feeling. Staff are polite though when you talk... More

The staff at Telmotango were great, in special a guy blond with stars. The location was also fantastic, walking distance to lots of the main streets and resteraunt areas. The breakfasts were great, but the room is not so good. Otherwise, a great place to stay!

I don't often write reviews online, but this time I really want to warn everyone who is planning to stay in Buenos Aires to stay away from this place!!! The service itself SUCKS! The hostel is run by a couple of guys that actually live in the hostel and give you the impression that they would rather not have you... More

Staying in Montserrat

Neighbourhood Profile
Montserrat
As part of the historic quarter of Buenos Aires, Montserrat is defined by the historical events that took place there and the landmarks that have stood the test of time. The Plaza de Mayo is at the center of this connection to history: countless public demonstrations have passed through this square, going back to the May Revolution of 1810. Walking the streets of Montserrat allows us to imagine what Buenos Aires may have looked like in the past: the Cabildo takes us back to the late 16th century, while the Palacio Barolo and the traditional cafés carry us to the early 20th. Nowadays, the neighbourhood is inundated every day by office workers, buses, and taxis; still, the cobblestones, narrow sidewalks, and subway stations from the 1910s remind us that we are surrounded by history everywhere we look.
