The hotel is clearly trying to modernize and renovate, so some of the corridors and elevators are not yet in pristine condition. The rooms, however, are clean, quiet and comfortable. Wi-Fi, though available (free) is still having kinks worked out of the system. Location is ideal - close to all shopping though bordering Plaza Chile and not on the busiest...

Great location, just across from the square but the hotel was disappointing. We overlooked a scruffy block wall with a courtyard/service area below our lounge & bedroom windows. This was used by staff to chat and smoke (which drifted up into our room) I thought the breakfast was average and finding a staff member in the dining room was difficult.

First room had very dirty floor and A/C in "living area" wasn't working. Moved to another room next day with working wall A/C units in bedroom and living area. Kitchenette area okay, but no soap to wash the cups/saucers. Staff was okay, but we were told the first day that we could move to a front room with park view....

I stayed several nights at El Portal Suites as this hotel is often used by tour groups climbing Aconcagua. The location is very good, close to the main square and shopping area. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. Some have their own balcony with a nice view of the park. Breakfast is not too impressive, but you can order eggs separately...

Room size was amazing. Rooms were clean and modern. Good location. Staff was nice and helpful - but a little pushy with tour sales. When we stayed, there was loud drilling in the place all day long. We didn't like that much, but realized that, hopefully, it was just temporary.

A great location and a nice facade. The staff are friendly and helpful but sadly the rooms are dated and the Wifi is not accessible from the room. The room I had was large but the carpet was loose and in general it seemed as I said, dated. The bathroom was clean as was the kitchenette. It seems to be...

During my romp around Argentina I am currently staying in Mendoza at the El Portal Suites. Very boutiquish and nice but a couple of small negatives. First the positives... the people at the front desk went and are going out of their way to make me feel at home. They speak pretty good English and have been super helpful in...

The 2 nights we stayed here were set up by Grajales expeditions before going to Aconcagua to climb. I will give the positives first: The "suite" consisted of a kitchen (one burner, a small fridge, a sink, a teapot, plates and cups--nothing to cook with), 2 rooms with 3 beds (we are a family of 3), and a bathroom that...

If you're looking for a kitchenette, dining area, etc. then this is your place. These large suites are best for staging expeditions for climbing and hiking, where there's room for gear. We were looking for more character, and while very clean, the breakfast was mediocre and spare, and so was the hotel in general.

Booked the hotel because of the rating and didn't read the comments which was a mistake.breakfast is poor, hotel very noisy as you can hear the chairs searching above you and the kindergarten next door.we found some hair- in our bed as in the bathroom.i guess they are cheating with the rating, because this hotel can't have this great rating!
