This is a modest place to stay - essentially basement spaces divided into rooms, but very clean, safe, & good location. We had just arrived in Colombia, so the owner and other staff were really friendly and helpful getting us oriented. They were so gracious, knowledgeable about everything we had to ask and willing to share their time. It was a perfect place for us to land - we felt like we had a home base to start our trip with. If you are looking for frills, this is not the place, but if you want clean, safe and friendly, we wholeheartedly recommend them.

Very friendly owner, easy to reach by email and phone, spacious room, bed linnen smells good, free shampoo, socket for ±4 plugs, nice cute small courtyard, central location. This place has more rooms than you might expect! Most cheap and basic place we stayed during 3 weeks holiday. Couldn't get the shower at the right temperature. Breakfast was too scanty for us (coffee, hot water, toast, jam, cookies). The breakfast guy is a total loser who does not pay any interest for the guests. Dude make yourself useful and scramble some eggs or squeeze some fresh juice instead of watching your phone or the TV...! Would recommend to stay at least 2 full days in Puerto Madryn if you want to see the whales. There can always be a situation that the harbour is closed or the whales don't show themselves on the first day, so then you have a second day to anticipate.

El patio is a cozzy place to stay here. We adopted it for three times. These hollydays we have a bad experience in Puerto Madryn. We rent a car at "rent a car" (roca 293)...the worst place. A car with defective doors and belts...expensive and with non-friendly people when we return it ...even all was in order. El doradillo was full of whales and museum MEF in trelew, fantastic!

A very warm welcome awaits you at El Patio, a lovely wee hostel in central Puerto Madryn. All the staff are kind and friendly and take time out to talk and help. The rooms are good and the 'patio' is tranquil and charming. We only had one night here as it was a stop-off between the penguins and the peninsula. It was a pity we hadn't planned two nights. There is nowhere designated parking but the staff will sort out a parking space for you. Can't imagine anywhere else can be as good as this at this price. Great value. Would love to return some day. Apologies to the staff of El Patio for not reviewing earlier!
