We stayed in a casita but honestly didn’t use the front or back deck due to the heat. The room was older but clean and fresh and the bath was obviously newer and very pleasant. We also reserved a pool cabana for shade from the sun and a little pampering. Pool food and drink service was very good. The guacamole app was the best I’ve tasted! The resort is well staffed and eager to please. Food waitstaff was the best we’ve seen in a few years, service with a smile and prompt too. Breakfast/brunch was delightfully served outside (or inside if you like) and the omelets were also some of the best we’ve had. One con is that the resort is not located within walking distance of other food choices. You will need a car or Uber to get around and that was fine with us.

Hotel's Favourite
My 2 nights / 3 day stay at Royal Palms was the highlight of my 3 night / 4 day trip to Scottsdale for Thanksgiving. During this period, I additionally stayed at the Phoenician (as a Marriott Ambassador member) and visited 4 other resorts (Fairmont, Scott Resort, The Sanctuary, and Andaz), and none were even close in terms of beauty or service as Royal Palms. I want to give a special shout out to Mina Garcia who provided the warmest welcome for my entire family and ensured that we received the utmost care and attention since check-in to check-out. Mina as well as the GM, Carlo, truly made me feel valued as a Hyatt Globalist member - from welcome champagne to a dedicated resort tour by Mina to a handwritten card from Carlo with 2 free cocktails at Mix Up. The staff also offered me an upgrade from a 2 queen bed standard room to a casita, which only have 1 King beds. As we had 3 members in the family, they provided us with the option of taking the upgrade to a casita with a roll away bed. Our casita was in a semi-private area facing the Camelback mountains and next to a pathway to T Cooks. The room had a toasty fireplace, the most comfortable bed (my parents melted into it), a shower and a large soaking tub with soap rose petals, scrub sponge, and a caddy to hold it all (so cute!). We The resort grounds were flawless as well - we were blown away by the unique desert-themed exterior, cleanliness, and the pure magical ambience from the resort (so magical that I have even added Royal Palms to my list of future wedding venues). We ended up skipping our dedicated day hike to Camelback mountain to further explore every inch of the resort grounds instead. Additionally, we had breakfast at T Cooks (a fantastic way to kick off the morning with fresh air on the beautiful patio seating and delicious breakfast) and 2 lunches at the Cabana Cafe (also fantastic service/care). Tremendous thank you again, and Hyatt should be incredibly proud to have this remarkable resort as part of its collection! Next time I'm back, I will certainly be sure to try their renowned spa, Alvadora, and drinks at Mix Up!

Couple of things that were different this time around. No welcome from the front desk when I went to grab our room keys. No acknowledgment at all as a returning customer or a WOH elite member. I know it is not a norm but no welcome note or amenity in the room as well, just a note from housekeeping. I did pay for an upgraded suite which was fantastic, as usual. Breakfasts were still fabulous, and the service at the pool was super attentive. I kind of expected more from a resort of this class, and came back expecting top notch service. Probably will not return.

Royal Palms is a beautiful property. Old school charm and an historic building with some of the most beautiful gardens I have ever seen at a hotel. From the majestic palms up the driveway to an array of cactae, you are never far from flora and fauna. My room was a standard, but generous in size and lovely and quiet. There are a few slightly shabby patches here and there that could use a touch up, but I loved my three nights here. The only real disappointment was this morning at 5.15am when I called reception for a taxi to the airport, I was told there were none of the cars on property and that the local company was sold out. I would suggest that the hotel make sure that when a guest checks in that they are informed of this, so that a ride can be reserved well enough in advance. Luckily I got an Uber but it took 20mins to arrive, making my travel all very last minute. I made it though, and this is such a small detail and very easy to fix.

We stayed in the Casita but honestly every single place around the resort would have been ideal. There’s so much to explore and enjoy on property alone. There are many places to create amazing and unique memories. Can’t wait to bring the kids next time.

Upon check-in they had us with two separate reservations which a bit of time to get straightened out but once they were able to figure it out they said they wouldn’t charge us for their mistake. That was odd. The grounds are beautiful!! It was so peaceful with beautiful views. There’s quite a mosquito problem so along with free sunscreen they off mosquito repellent. My husband and I both enjoyed wonderful hot stone massages. My masseuse was David and I was so pleased and wished I booked the 100 minute massage. I get hot stone massages often and that was by far the best massage and my shoulder is finally feeling better a week later. The pool has a chiller on it so the water was always refreshing in the 114 degree weather. Our room was a spa suite. It was a disappointment. The room was very dark and had old musty smell. The fireplace facade was falling off and the furniture was so bulky I found myself bruised from running into a piece at furniture because it took up space in the room. The food was delicious but it’s quite difficult to know what menu you’re ordering from if you want room service. I will go back for the Alvadora Spa and enjoy the quiet grounds. A great place for couples.

My felt at home in this just the right size resort/spa. The rooms and building have a welcoming feeling. And the plantings around the site give the place a sense of a long history which carries on the style of the original estate.

My husband and I recently stayed (again) at the Royal Palms. The food and service at T. Cook's was outstanding, as usual. There was a glitch with our room that was quickly resolved by the manager, Andrew Frost, whose professionalism was outstanding. We plan to stay at the resort again this month.

This is my second stay at the Royal Palms in 5 year. The property itself is lovely and historic. However for a five star hotel it definitely falls short. First of all a lot of the property needs to have a little bit of refurbishment. The pool needs new tiling and also needs to be cleaned a bit. We stayed in a Montavista suite, Which was sprawling. However we were unable to use the other side- the living area -because the odor that was coming out of that room was quite disgusting. We had to keep the door closed to that area at all times because it smelled like either like a dead animal or just incredibly musty. Understanding at this hotel welcomes pets it’s possible that there were pets staying there prior to our stay by but the room is not freshened and cleaned. The suite featured two fireplaces that you could call to turn on but finally call nobody ever came. Kind of a shame that we cant use that. We went with the other family members who stayed in different rooms and they also had issues with odors.. Unfortunately they also had dog staying next to them that kept them up all night. Understanding that this hotel is dog friendly it might be a good idea to keep those with the pets visiting in a separate area. It’s unfortunate that we were disappointed because it really is a lovely property. But when you have a five-star hotel there’s certain amenities that you should have that were missing. When we got To check in if we didn’t ask about our AMEX benefits they will not have been given to us. I will say that we had breakfast every day at t cooks and it was incredible. The servers were lovely there as well as the servers at the pool.
