The Residence Inn By Marriott Sedona receives accolades for its friendly service, despite occasional reports of unprofessionalism at the front desk. Guests often describe the hotel as exceptionally clean, though some believe there is room for improvement. While the hotel's location is praised for its balance of serenity and convenience near Sedona's attractions, opinions on value are mixed, with some guests feeling extra services such as parking are overpriced. The amenities, including breakfast options and the pool, are generally appreciated, yet some visitors are left underwhelmed. Opinions on the rooms vary; they are recognized as spacious but with a design that some find lackluster.

I am a Lifetime Titanium elite member and booked this property to celebrate our 40th Anniversary on the recommendation of a Marriott reservations agent because it was new and since there’s no full service Marriott in town. In fact, she told me she was going to note the reservation of our special occasion and to upgrade to best available room on high floor, as noted in my profile. However, when we arrived we were told that we had been assigned a ground floor room and no upgrades were available in spite of the note in our reservation. Fortunately, the desk agent did manage to get us into a second floor studio, which was the only room type on the second floor that she had available. Then, later on our way out to dinner I asked if popcorn had become a victim of COVID and neither agent who was at the desk had any idea what I was talking about. So, I proceeded to tell them that popcorn was a standard amenity provided to all guests at Residence Inns, at which point I was told that “this hotel is not owned by Marriott, it’s a franchise property, so we do some things a little differently!” Oh, really!!?? Not the response I expected, especially being so blunt and direct. While I recognize that most hotels are franchises and may have some minor differences, there are also standard things that guest expect from each brand. So, if you are a Residence Inn regular, don’t expect this hotel to adhere to or honor some of the standards and amenities you normally expect. If you’re OK with that, giving credit where credit is due, book it, because it’s a beautiful property. Very clean and well maintained. And, oh, don’t be surprised, as I was, that there’s an $18 charge for parking, which wasn’t mentioned at checkin.

Dear Valued Guest, Thank you for sharing your feedback on your experience while with us. I am pleased to hear you found the property clean and well maintained, but am sorry that we were unable to meet your expectations as an elite member in regards to an upgrade. We do our best to accommodate all upgrade requests based upon availability. In regards to the popcorn, it is a Residence Inn staple that we hope, as a company, not as a franchise, to be able to bring back soon as we miss it too. Thank you again for staying with us and we hope to have an opportunity to offer you a wow experience on your next Sedona adventure.

We decided on Sedona for a weeklong “work anywhere” getaway from LA. First and foremost, the staff was exceptional.
We arrived on Sunday 1/16 late afternoon and were assigned 2nd floor Studio guest room B226. Unfortunately, it was very small for us (including Yuri our 4 legged companion). Noise from courtyard along with it being just dirty (including long hairs leftover in the shower).
1/17 - 1/22, I was able to secure one of the four 2 bedroom guest rooms No. B227 which was much more conducive for the next five nights.
Pros:
1) large unit with bedrooms on opposite sides of the living room.
2) kitchen was nice with sink, full size fridge, table and stools for eating.
3) balcony off king bedroom overlooking the pretty red rock park with few walking trails.
4) main heating / AC unit worked great and not to loud in a all rooms.
5) 3 large TVs of “decent” quality.
6) housekeeping gals were very sweet and always asked if we needed anything. Thank you!
7) ice/water machine near the lobby was nice.
Cons:
1) walls in this property are paper thin! Can hear your neighbours talking, laughing, partying, TVs, pets, etc. This was clearly bothersome during our entire stay. In addition, all guest room entry doors are on a mechanism that forces closure to “slam”, I mean “slam”. Unfortunately you hear this day and night! The front desk understands but recognize poor quality construction and nothing they can do about it. Just “buyer beware, you have been warning”.
2) TVs were filthy - meaning screens previously cleaned with a dirty towel.
3) bathroom sinks water pressure was dismal, little more than a drip. Shower pressure was just ok, nothing special.
4) for pet owners, only one rather small patch of artificial grass but it’s off limits for your dog. So he or she must “take care of their business” on the red dirt and/or rocks around the property.
Summary: If you seek peace and quiet/serenity in Sedona, this hotel (literally right on main highway 89A) is probably not for you.
Few years back we stayed at Enchantment Resort, it was superb.

It was refreshing to stay in a "new" hotel that still smells new and not like bad hotel cleaning products and is light and bright as the kitchen and baths have white quartz as I have severe chemical sensitivities and did not suffer, which is rare for me at a hotel. This is a beautiful two-story property on the west side of Sedona away from the tourist area. So, if you are in the area for hiking, biking, or vortex exploration it is a fantastic location. In fact there are many trails right outside the front doors. There have been some negative reviews on TA of the property; however, this was not our experience and my husband has "high" Marriott rewards status and we tend to only stay in Residence Inns as we appreciate the space and kitchen as I need to prep all of my own meals. We were upgraded to a room with a sliding door that faced a residential neighborhood with a great view and it was quiet and we could enjoy fresh air. There are many rooms that face the highway and they will be noisier. We were only at the property for about 18 hours as we had an emergency and had to leave early; however, the pool area is really nice with upgraded furniture, multiple seating areas with fire pits, and a meditation garden. My husband said that the breakfast was "typical" for a Residence Inn with the addition of a great frittata, and was plenty to fuel up for the 13 hour drive we had ahead of us. Any staff we interacted with were friendly. Just an FYI if you are heading to Sedona in the coming weeks . . . make sure to check the Arizona Department of Transportation website as during the week they have been closing Oak Creek Canyon right at the edge of Sedona for rock mitigation between 6am and 4pm, which prevents access to Slide Rock, etc. unless you drive up to Flagstaff and back down. The hotel sits on Red Rock Loop Road which will take you down to the Crescent Moon Day use picnic site with a fee of $13 per car. It is open until 8pm and you can access Oak Creek, the Vortex at Buddha Beach, and join the trails that allow the hike up Cathedral Rock. This is convenient if staying on the west side. If we are back in the Sedona area again we would not hesitate to stay here again.

We held a recent business event for 3 days and the hotel was perfect. The meeting space, rooms, and outdoor areas were well kept and great for working and then hanging together in the evening. We had an amazing night sitting by the fire pit! The rooms are spacious and the kitchenette would be very handy when travelling with a family. The drive to downtown Sedona was under 10 minutes to access shops, restaurants, and of course, the Pink Jeep tour!

The hotel appeared to be fairly new, 2 years old as I found out. During the walk to our room #216 we saw a large toilet plunger in the hallway, not a good look or sign. Remembering the plunger I inspected our toilet and saw bits of floating paper, I attempted to flush them but they stayed in the bowl. When I flushed the toilet the water level came up a bit and then went down slowly, it didn’t have the normal flushing sound and leaving the bits of paper floating.
We checked in late in the day and had dinner plans with some locals meeting us in the lobby. While waiting for the locals to arrive in the lobby we purchased a half bottle of wine from the convenience shop next to the checking desk. I mentioned that possibly the plumbing was a problem and was told no it wasn’t, said that my toilet wasn’t flushing properly and that we had seen a plunger outside of a guest’s room.
The front desk lady told me in earshot of others that my Bonvoy credit card was maxed out and wouldn’t accept the charge for the wine, I said that there must be a mistake as that card has a substantial credit limit and I pay it off each month.
I could have asked for maintenance to repair our toilet, but we checked in late after driving from Albuquerque to Sedona and wanted to shower before our dinner. With our luggage and valuables in the room we didn’t want maintenance people coming and going with us not there. When returning from dinner and using the toilet it would not flush, the water stayed high and another flush attempt would have overflowed into the sleeping area. What a mess, 10:30 in the evening we were very tired from the drive and long dinner and simply couldn’t be bothered by maintenance people coming and going to repair the backed up toilet.
This is a Marriott, one would expect that housekeeping would have detected that toilet was struggling to flush and that at least another room was having plumbing issues.

During checkout I told the staff and the front desk lady said how sorry she was for our experience and said that she would not charge us for the $18.00 per night parking fee. We appreciate this gesture but feel it really wasn’t quite enough.

the Residence Inn west Sedona.
Check in, very easy and quick.
Room 239 is at the south end of the property facing the pool, spa, BBQ’s, fire pit, patio area. Overall the location is remote from the main waking tourist areas however we drive to where we wanted and it was quick to do so.
The hotel has many levels and takes several stairs, ramps and elevators to get around. We ended up criss crossing the pool area to get around quickly.
Breakfast: Hotel staff Tanja checked in with all the guests to make sure all had what they needed. There were four covered hot plate with things like waffles, quiches, muffins and breakfast Bagels with the items changing daily. There was also yogurt whole fruit, oatmeal, breads, spears and a toaster. Plus juices, milk and coffee. Seating area was full several times but things opened up quickly. The fireplace in the lobby was a nice feature.
The room was a standard Residence Inn current generation room with kitchen seating area TV King bed and bathroom with shower. No service since we were there for only two nights. The room was quiet, even though we were next to the elevator we never heard it.
There are several nice seating and viewing areas on property. So if you are looking for sunny or a shady spot to sit, there are lots of options.
I agree that parking fee is disappointing I which they would give parking passes to those that need them and not have parking as an added expenses, however the parking fee will not keep us from staying again.

Rude Service and Lack of Regard for Bonvoy Members. Probably one of the worst customer service experiences I’ve ever had. They didn’t seem to care that I am a titanium Bonvoy member, or that I spent nearly 60K points for one night at this clip joint.

The $18 Parking is a money grab and they won’t waive it for ANYONE- even if you have Ambassador Bonvoy status. Be forewarned if you stay here you’re going to be fleeced and treated like you’re just a number. If you’re paying $400 a night the breakfast shouldn’t be on paper plates with plastic utensils… Really! Also, the comments, “We are not known as a view property.” And love this one (thanks Nicholas), “You take care now.” AKA Helen Hunt on Saturday Night Live, “Bye Bye.”

Here’s another one, “We don’t have luggage racks, as that isn’t part of our design. So sorry for the inconvenience.” A one and done for me. I think I could have had better treatment and service at a state prison. I will never be back. Hopefully Bonvoy will refund my points for this terrible experience.

We paid $2,000 for 4 nights, specifying NO highway or parking lot views and that is exactly where they put us, The sofa bed was unsleepable, with them offering extra blankets and comforters to make it more comfortable. When complaining to the management they said "comfort is sacrificed for convenience and space!" "Refresh" room service non existent. This is not the quality we are used to from Marriott for the past 15 years.

We travel to Sedona a couple of times a year. We usually stay at a resort in oak creek but the last few times, it was not great and it was really expensive for what we got. This trip we decided to change it up and stay on the other side of town at the residence inn in Sedona. This property is at the very end of Sedona, however the town very small so it’s really not out of the way.

We had a king suite. Which was fantastic. The hotel is gnu modern and very clean. We had a main room with a couch a desk and a full kitchen including a refrigerator and dishwasher. We had a separate room with a king size bed. This isn’t a fancy place but it was clean and perfect for what we needed.

Service was amazing. Check in Was a breeze. Our room was ready way before check-in time. We needed extra towels and pillows and they were at the door within moments of calling.

They had a free breakfast which we had one morning which was adequate. They have a little bar area in the lobby at night.

There’s no restaurant on site to get dinner, but you can walk right next-door to the courtyard where they have a little bistro if you need a light bite.

There is no resort fee like other hotels have, but they do charge you $18 to park a car which seems sort of like a shakedown because there’s plenty of parking and no one is parking there that isn’t staying there.

The price was right in the clean new room was perfect. I hope that this place doesn’t get that popular that the next time I come to town that it won’t be available.

This was a very uncomfortable stay for our family of four. The layout of the room was problematic. There was plenty of room for two queen beds, but instead of a second queen bed, there was a sofa bed with the worst mattress imaginable. The mattress was about 3 inches thick and sagged horribly. We asked the front desk what could be done and they sent us extra blankets and a comforter. What? We folded the blankets and comforter and put them under the mattress, hoping to eliminate, or at least reduce the sag. No dice. The kids were miserable on the sofa bed for three nights.

The tv could face either the bed or the sofa bed, but not both, so there was no way for everyone to watch a show comfortably before bed. The toilet tissue holder was broken and too far from the toilet, so trying to reach it was a challenge. The shower conditioner container had broken off the shower wall, and there was no shower gel. We had to buy toiletries during our visit.

The breakfast was a slightnstep up from the standard included breakfast at most chains, but, having stayed at Residence Inns previously, we were expecting something much better.

Basically, families or parties of more than two are financially penalized for staying at this hotel. In order to get two actual beds, you'd have to stay in a room that costs more than twice the price of the studio with a sofa bed. If I had known how awful the sleeping arrangements would be. I'd have booked another hotel.

Ours had a balcony that overlooked a hiking trail. I don't think any had view of the parking lot, though some may see the pool. It wasn't a super scenic view, but I really did love this hotel. All seemed new, 2 bed/2 bath with kitchen. Free hot breakfast every morning. Nice pool area with grills, tables and fire pit. There is a hiking bath off the parking lot that was surprisingly nice.
