What started as a pleasant experience with front desk assisting us at check in and recommending sites and dining locations ended in a nightmare experience with the hotel manager. Rooms are "cleaned" after 4 nights stay unless requested sooner. You will be told every 4 days but your first day does not count. We booked a 6 day / 5 night stay and requested service after the 3rd night. This was ignored. To make the situation worse, the room was still not cleaned after the 4th night at 5:00 pm and when that was escalated, we got a quick wipe down of the bathroom and the bed being made. The carpet was never vacuumed nor was the bathroom floor swept / mopped the entire stay. Hotel manager was rude, inconsiderate, and refused to address the issue or make amends for their mistake. I escalated to Hilton Guest Assistance and, only then, did the manager say she would have compensated us but now could not because of the escalation. Nice small hotel that offers many amenities but cleanliness is not one of their strong points. Pleasant staff but horrible management. This hotel manager has pretty much guaranteed I will not longer stay at a Hilton property.

From the front desk to the breakfast. Nice employees going above and beyond. Very helpful with local info. We were there to hike so the hotel was fine. Sure you can pay for the Ritz but this was fine and clean as well.

After reading all the reviews, I was very apprehensive about this hotel. We almost always stay in a Hampton Inn. This was definitely the worst Hampton Inn we have stayed in but, having said that, I don't agree with the 1 and 2 star reviews. While the hotel is dated, and definitely needs upgrades, the room is adequate and the beds and pillows are Hilton quality. In addition, our room was very clean and quiet. Breakfast was up to the usual expectations, and the location, if you are hiking, can't be beat. I can't speak to the pool or workout room as we didn't use those. While we used points so didn't pay full price (and I'm not sure I would pay full price at over $200), I would definitely stay here again.

Let me start by stating that I never write one-star reviews. This Hampton Inn will be a rare exception. I took two months planning our trip to Sedona and the Grand Canyon. I spent weeks reading reviews of hotels and VRBO's around the Sedona area. The hotel I chose for our first night, where we would only be sleeping in for one night, was in a perfect location and was inexpensive, and we got what we paid for. The hotel that was most important to us was the one we would spend three nights in, and I made the mistake of choosing the Hampton Inn Sedona for that stay. The photos looked good, the reviews were above average, location was pretty good, and the prices were a little better than other hotels in the area. I am also a Hilton Honors member, so I always stay at Hilton family hotels and have always been able to count on them for providing decent accommodations. After a long couple of days at the Grand Canyon, we stopped for dinner and then headed to the Hampton Inn Sedona. As soon as we arrived, we noticed the hotel was poorly maintained and did not match the photos on their website. I tried to stay optimistic while looking at the concerned look on the faces of my family. The pool was tiny, in the front of the hotel, and full of leaves. The lobby clearly was dated and needed some cleaning, and the "gym" is basically a large closet with one elliptical, one old bike, and one treadmill. Needless to say, no one was using the gym or the pool when we arrived. Still holding out hope, we walked to our room, through halls with dirty, dingy old carpet and missing trim. Our room was equally dingy, with a picture missing from the wall and worn carpet. Everything looked dated, poorly maintained and like it needed a good cleaning. I immediately told my family to wait in the two worn chairs in the sitting area in the hall while I worked with Hilton to find adequate accommodations. I called Hilton and told them the Hampton Inn Sedona was not accurately depicted on the website, that this was the worst Hilton family hotel that I had seen, and that I would need to move my family to another Hilton hotel. I was on the phone with Hilton when they called the front desk and got no answer. I went back to the front desk and asked the person there to answer the phone when Hilton called again, so he plugged the phone in and took the call. After an hour on the phone making sure that me original reservation would be cancelled and that the charges I already incurred before I ever got to see the hotel would be refunded, and after paying over $600 for another hotel for that night, we dropped off our keys, checked out and went to the other hotel. The Hilton Sedona Resort at Bell Rock was amazing and had everything we were looking for. We had to pay considerably more since we were making reservations on such short notice, but we were thrilled to be staying at a clean, well maintained hotel with an excellent gym, spa and pools. After I got home and waited several weeks for my refund from the Hampton Inn to show up on my credit card, I finally called and emailed the Hampton Inn Sedona inquire about the delay. They told me about the water damage they had incurred and apologized for the delay in the refund. Then they implied, more than once, that we had actually stayed at the hotel for one night, and didn't check out until the next morning. After providing the bill from our stay at the Hilton Resort, and insisting several times that we didn't spend more than an hour at their hotel, they finally said that their cancellation policy was 24 hours and they wouldn't refund the first night stay, or the first night parking charge. Nobody ever argued about the condition of the hotel, or inquired about why we didn't want to stay there. Clearly they understood why we had to cancel after realizing the representations of the hotel online were not accurate. I made my reservation based on misleading information provided by them on their website, and relying on Hilton to make sure the Hampton Inn Sedona met their minimum standards. I would have expected the Hampton Inn Sedona to apologize and grant me a full refund within a couple days, rather than have to waste hours and hours of my time trying to get a refund. Having never seen the hotel, there was no way for me to know what to expect, other than my experience with Hilton in the past, so it doesn't make sense for me to have to pay for a night that I didn't spend at their hotel, not to mention the $600 I had to cough up to find last minute accommodations. There are many great places to stay in the Sedona area. This is not one of them. Make sure you arrive a day or two before your stay to get a good look at the hotel, and ask for a tour of the facility and rooms, so you can cancel in accordance with the "policy".

Dear SteveJM413, Thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us. I understand that we fell short of your expectations and that is never the experience that we want to give to our guests. We did make an exception in your case to a fully pre-paid, non-refundable reservation and did refund the 2 nights that the room was not used. The one night charge was not a hotel policy decision, but a need for housekeeping before selling the room decision. It is our obligation to our incoming guests that we give them a perfectly clean room and not one that has been inhabited. It is for that reason that we did charge one night room and tax. Had the room not been used for the time that you were with us, we would have been able to refund all of it due to your dissatisfaction. We do not want our guests to leave unhappy. I am glad to see that Hilton was able to remedy this situation for you and you enjoyed your vacation at another Hilton property while in Sedona.

Flood leads to disaster. When we arrived, the lobby had undergone a flood stemming from a sprinkler head from the floors above. The Lobby was shot down as well as computers. We were told this happen 4/18. We did not get to the hotel until 4/21. No one had called and informed us prior to our arrival. Disaster, where to go now. We looked at the rooms they offered us, turned out they already were taken. The computer system was shot down as well. After some scrambling, we managed to get rooms at another resort. Very Disappointed.

Dear jspringer710, We would like to apologize for the issues that you faced upon checking in. The incident that occurred is never something that we want to have affect our guest experience. It appears that your review is not reflective of an actual stay at our property. I would like to clarify that, while we did have an emergency involving water, we were fully operational by 4/21 for your stay and had your room ready for your check in. If you would like to discuss this further, please feel free to email me at danielle.sonn@highgateselectservice.com

We were on a road trip after spending time in Phoenix for a wedding. We wanted to explore the area & see some sights in Sedona. This hotel stay was the best stay for us during our 11 day road trip. There were many things that this place special for us. There were 2 employees at this hotel that were extra friendly & helpful. Wayne at the front desk was especially friendly & helpful. It helped make our stay here feel better than most. The other person I would like to mention is Julie. She was the person at the breakfast area that took care of keeping everything well stocked & super nice & friendly. She truly made you feel like she was there to take care of you. This was one of the few Hampton Inns that still offered fresh cookies in the evening. I don't know why many of the other Hampton Inns no longer do this. Such a small thing to make you feel good. I feel the price for this hotel was very high. I know this is a tourist destination & I am ok with something a little higher than the norm, b ut it was quite high. Then they charged for parking which I feel was rediculous & unnecessary.

My family and I had the pleasure of staying in the Hampton Inn in Sedona. The stay was very comfortable. The location was great, walking distance to restaurants and shops. I would definitely recommend this Hampton Inn to friends and family. We are planning a trip for next year and plan on staying at this Hampton Inn again.

Dear Samm1e_G1, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review of your stay with us. As you mentioned, our tubs are in need of resurfacing and that project is scheduled for May of this year. We do understand the need for upgrades every few years as hotels are very high traffic areas. We hope that you will come back and visit us again when your travels bring you back to Sedona.

Not a very well run hotel. Good location but not worth the money. The elevator is still broken. Bath room was motel 6 like. Tub area was dirty. 2 tiny bars of soap was a joke. Crack in the ceiling from a water leak. Bed seems like someone had slept in it before we showed up. Parking is $17 per night. Be ready to pay up or eat $17 worth of food in the morning. On a positive note, the breakfast was good. Staff did a great job with all the items. I would only rate this place a 2 out of 5 stars. Not worth the money! Keep looking.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We are sorry to hear that we did not meet your expectations in all areas. The elevator has been working, but it did need one final repair and we felt that it was in the best interest of our guests safety to shut it down while we wait for that to be done this week. Parking fees are very common in tourist destinations as well as with other Hilton properties worldwide. We do keep ours lower than others in our area for your convenience. As I am unable to find your reservation with the information provided, I would appreciate if you would reach out to me directly so that I may look into the problem areas mentioned with the intention that we may fix them. danielle.sonn@highgateselectservice.com

So disappointed in this particular hotel. So unlike any Hampton Inn I’ve ever stayed at. Out of the 7 of us (4 rooms) that stayed here, we all had issues with our rooms. My friend’s room was moldy and musty smelling. Management had the room re-cleaned but it still smelled. Carpet should be replaced and the bathrooms were so old the tub looked dirty. My bathtub was in the same condition. On a positive note, my bed was very comfortable.
