stayed @ the Village Royal in Jan 2009 and had a great time. On return to UK, I booked again for Jan 2010. What a disappointment. The bar was still open @ 05:45, at the time there were some scousers arguing shouting and generally kicking off. That should have been a sign of things to come. The room was a... More

This is a typical 2 star indian hotel. Room very basic and a little grubby. Room boy introduced himself once and offered to clean the room occasionally, sheets changed once and towels changed every other day. Hotel is dated and located outside Calangute safe to walk to during the day, however need a taxi at night. Majority of the british... More

As soon we opened our room door at the "Village Royale" we knew we were in for a surprise, the bedding does have stains but is clean, the furniture has seen better days, the bathroom towels are grubby and the room is very very basic, But we did decided to stay and give it a chance. After a good nights... More

If you have paid less than £500 for two weeks in the Village Royal then do not expect the Ritz or anything Royal. I was not expecting great things from this hotel and was mentally prepared for the rooms prior to arrival. The room is very basic bed, wardrobe and fridge. As discussed TV and aircon extra. Sheets had staines... More

I spent christmas and newyear in this place. Let me make it perfectly clear to anyone reading these reviews the accomodation offered in this place is the worst I have been in in 49yrs of holidaying. These rooms are as basic as you get. I hired a fridge. The only thing in the room was a bed ,a small bedside... More

We arrived late as our flight had been delayed by 10 hours, it was dark, well off the main road and up a long drive, we found the reception dirty, grubby and most unwelcoming. Our room was filthy, the linen on the beds was stained and dirty, there was fungus growing up the walls in the bathroom and only 1... More

With the emphasis on the cheap, a perfectly reasonable but basic 2* hotel, most people were here for the price! Rooms were clean but basic, beds hard, A/C and TV extra but you have the choice - worth it for me for hotter days. Pool and bar area were very nice and the restaurant food excellent - breakfast very basic... More
