From the moment we arrived, we knew Shelter from the Storm was the perfect place for us to enjoy our two week stay in Costa Rica. In fact, even before we arrived Donna had been a tremendous help in booking our excursions, giving helpful advice, and even making New Year's Eve dinner reservations for us at Exotica. We had booked...

We stayed at Shelter from the Storm withou benefit of seeing a Trip Advisor review. We knew it was for us as soon as we saw their website. But I have to say--photos can't do the place justice. SFTS is between Dominical and Uvita--which we came to consider a huge plus. Uvita and Ojochal are south of Dominical and offer...

Shelter from the Storm was fantastic. We stayed in Villa La Cuesta. I thought the pictures on the website were great but they did not do it justice! It was just like the pictures only soooo much better. Donna and Daryl were great. We weren't sure exactly what we wanted to do in Costa Rica before we arrived so we...

Shelter From the Storm offers a civilized escape into the rain forests of Costa Rica. You can watch monkeys, butterflies, sloths, geckos, bats, toucans, vultures, and couple of friendly cats and dogs while having access to the internet, coffee maker, ice cubes, and a fully stocked bar! The attention to detail is as impressive as the view. My girlfriend and...

When we arrived, we were greeted by Alvin, the groundskeeper. The area had been hit hard by a tropical storm just a week or so earlier and Daryl, the owner, was busy making sure Shelter From the Storm was up and running without a hitch, and it was. Alvin carried our bags and escorted us to the La Cuesta Villa....

Thanks for the great review, Debbie. I especially want to thank you for mentioning both Alvin and Blanca. We have worked with them over the years to impress upon them that our jobs are not as defined by our duties but by the results and that our ONLY job is in insuring a perfect experience for our guests. My wife and I recently had the pleasure of spending a week in Villa La Cuesta at Shelter from the Storm. The property is located on a hillside overlooking the Pacific. I agree with other reviewers that a four wheel drive vehicle makes it easier to navigate the road up to the property, but it really wan't a problem for...

I wish I had been able to stay more nights.. I think a minimum of 5 would be recommended. Allow a day to travel south, a day to travel north (to Hacienda Baru, my favorite place in CR, thanks Daryl for the recommendation), and a few days just to enjoy the property and Dominical. I arrived after the torrential downpour...

We came to Shelter from the Storm for our honeymoon, and we had the absolute best time, from the breathtaking ocean views, to the monkey's playing in the trees, Shelter from the Storm gave us all the amenities of home, with the rich and beautiful culture of Costa Rica. Donna & Daryl took great care of us, helping us every...

My husband and I have traveled to Costa Rica including Dominical 5 times. This was our first time staying at Shelter from the Storm in the Baja Los Rocas unit. The property is beautiful, clean, private, and peaceful. Our cabina is the smallest of the four available, if your thinking about cooking, I'd rent one of the other units as...
