My husband and I stayed at Shelter from the storm for the second time. I cannot say enough about this place and the owners Darryl and Donna. The accommodations are perfect. Pool amazing. Love the dogs Ricki, Desi, and Lucy. Met with margaritas upon arrival. Lots of wildlife: Howler and white faced monkeys, toucans, aracaris, and many more birds and...

Shelter from the Storm is by far my favorite place I have ever stayed. Donna and Daryl (the owners) are the most kind and generous people. My wife and I stayed here last year and fell in love with the property. I thought it would possibly lose some of its luster the second time around but I only fell more...

We just returned from a week in Dominical, Costa Rica, where once again we stayed at Shelter from the Storm. What a amazing place! There a 4 separate villas, each totally unique, each built so you cannot even see the other units, each surrounded by jungle with expansive ocean views! We just returned from a trip to Costa Rica, and a 4 day stay at Shelter From the Storm. It was fabulous in every way! We stayed in the Monkey House, and while we travel a lot, this place ranks as one of our favorites! The veranda that allows you to "sit in the trees" is very cool. It was...

It truly is a "Shelter From the Storm". I stayed once again, a little over a week ago, this time in Monkey House. It never ceases to amaze me how very well thought out the structure and design of these beautiful villas and the way they are furnished with every possible thing one might need in order to prepare one's...

My family and I were connected to Shelter From the Storm from some friends in the Dominical Area and how thankful we are. We have been to Costa Rica for 20 plus years and this is one of the best places we have stayed. Welcomed by Darryl and Donna upon arrival. A Margarita Party welcome started the day as we...

My husband and I spent a week in the "Monkey House" at Shelter from the Storm December 2014. We were warmly received by Donna and Daryl and enjoyed a lime margarita and popcorn. We loved the property with its gorgeous, expansive views. They are conveniently located close to many fabulous tours and activities and amazing restaurants. We spent our Christmas vacation at Shelter of the storm. The pool house/bar called "rancho" was all decorated with Christmas tree and lights. On our arrival Daryl made us welcome with his specialty Margaritas and they are the best. Also on arrival the fridges are stocked with the first necessities, so you can make coffee/ tea and meals the first...

Words can't express how wonderful our stay at Daryl and Donna's place. Not only is it the most beautiful, peaceful, relaxing environment, but everything one could want or need is ready for you. Ultimate hosts with a location remote from crowded tourist areas, but close to beaches and restaurants you can enjoy. This is one place you will find hard...

My wife and I spent the better part of a week at Shelter from the Storm in July. We wanted to find a spot slightly off the beaten path, but located close to several beaches to explore, and this spot fit the bill. It is up the mountain off the main highway so that traffic noise is minimal and up...
