We had a wonderful three day split stay at Finca Maresia. The chalets were much nicer than I'd expected from the pictures and we managed to see so much wildlife from our deck, including macaws and coatis. The family dinners were well run and tasty, and the staff were all so helpful and friendly, which helped make our stay in Osa really easy. They have three lovely dogs one of which accompanied us on walks which was cute. We would highly recommend Finca Maresia to anyone heading to beautiful Bahia Drake!

A big thank you to Johnny, Mark and Alex for looking after us before and during our stay. The service levels were beyond 5 stars. The lodges are rustic but comfortable and we loved the open showers and the hammocks on the deck with views onto the forest. Mark booked all our tours and Johnny made sure we got there on time (transported in his truck) and coordinated everyone’s plans and breakfasts. We enjoyed the communal dining where a 3 course meal was $19 and a bottle of wine $15. One evening the white wine had run out and Mark immediately set off to the supermarket (with a smile) to make sure we had some, despite it being a 15 min round journey. We met some lovely like minded travellers and enjoyed exchanging travel experiences. Lots of wildlife to see and all the staff were generous with their time, always ready to show us a new bird or help us to spot it with the communal scope. The rooms don’t have AC but despite the 30+ temperatures we slept well with the room fan.

We stayed here as a family, and loved it. Great communication beforehand, with all of our questions answered in a timely manner. We arrived to a very warm welcome from Alex, Johnny and Mark (and Simba and the other friendly pets). Our accommodation was great, very clean, and in beautiful and peaceful surroundings. We enjoyed the communal dinners, dining with all of the other guests - enjoying a three course meal whilst exchanging our travel stories. The honesty bar (snacks and drinks) is a fantastic idea and there’s also space in a shared fridge if needed. While there, the team arranged any trips we wanted to do - would recommend the day trip boat/hike to Corcovado. Finca Maresia is great value for money, and we would not hesitate to stay here again.

While we did not stay at Finca Maresia, we had reservations, and had paid a deposit. We were forced to change our trip plans and were unable to stay at the Finca. They cancelled our reservation and refunded our deposit promptly. We will be staying there on a future trip.

We stayed here 26th to 29th of December. Arrived via boat from Sierpe and Mark was waiting for us. He then drove us up to the Hotel on the back of his pick up. On arriving you are greeted with a super view over the grounds. After a briefing of the do's and don't etc we were taken down to our room. (No.5) Not quite what we were expecting but none the less quite quirky but adequate. 2 double beds with mosquito nets, a small clothing area, a safe, well set out bathroom with a large shower and a balcony with 2 hammocks. There was 2 tables, a chair and 2 logs to sit on. The logs aren't the best so I used the other table. 7pm is food time where everyone sits down together. Quite unusual but worked very well. You have a couple of options to chose from and pick out earlier in the day. All the meals we had were very good. No complaints. Breakfasts are between 6.30 and 9 unless you are going on a tour and then they provide it earlier. One of the days we cancelled our tour due to my dodgy legs which had flaired up in a really bad heat rash. Thanks to the staff here who offered us with a cooked lunch free of charge that day. They really didn't need to. Any drinks you get are in a couple of fridges and you have to mark off on your hotel card then pay at the end. Please note, don't try and abuse their trust here it won't go unnoticed although we didn't see anybody do this. Overall this place was great. Amazing for birds and with the help of Jonny and Alex we saw some that we might have missed. Also thanks to Mark and Andrea. Would definitely stay here again.

We truly have no words for Finca Maresia and the warm hospitality of Miguel and Johny. This was our first honeymoon spot in Costa Rica , and for sure the bar is now set too high for the rest of our trip ! Finca Maresia is like being in paradise. Nested in the jungle at a high point from Bahia Drake, the cabins of Finca Maresia are one with nature and allowed us to wake up to the sounds of the jungle every morning, and relax in the hammocks in the evening. We loved the bed and the stone-floored bathroom; showering while birdwatching the toucans outside :))) All of the staff is incredibly kind and lovely, providing us recommendations for tours and activities. Delicious breakfast is included, and dinner is optional for a good price too. Lovely cats and dogs complete the uniqueness of this place. Unforgettable ! We are so grateful to have been here and wish we could stay more . Gracias , Pura vida !

I took my 2 teenage sons to Costa Rica in July. I was quite anxious travelling after the pandemic, first time on my own with my boys. Johnny, Gretha, Alex and Simon were so lovely - we felt very well looked after. They helped rearrange our trips and provided transport when needed. The room was great, with a balcony and hammock. It was very clean and comfortable. We saw so much wild life just in the hotel surroundings. Home cooked meals were really nice and we enjoyed the communal vibe. I would recommend it to anyone going to Drake Bay. We miss them! Katie, Rufus and Seth

Our whole family stayed here recently for four nights. The rooms are delicious, comfortable beds, hammocks to lounge on on the porch, clean showers. Dinners at Finca Maresia are a delight--they offer three choices every night. They organize the trips for you, and help make reservations if you want to eat elsewhere. They even picked us up when we went to eat somewhere else and it suddenly started pouring. The atmosphere at Finca Maresia is so warm. It's such a chill place. We were so lucky to have found this.

Nice but basic. Stayed 3 days and was ok but wouldn’t stay longer. Food portion sizes rather small. Friendly service for sure. But then there are not many great hotels/accommodations in Drakes Bay unless you pay over the odds. So if you come for 3 days it will be ok.

After 18 days travelling around Costa Rica our last 3 were at Finca Maresia, we really enjoyed our stay in Lodge 2 which had a lovely balcony with two hammocks, where we watched parrots, macaws, hummingbirds and many other birds, the rooms are big, with two beds, fan, part outside rain shower. The eating / sitting area higher up gets a breeze sometimes, which was welcome and we got some great photos from there of a Scarley Macaw. They also have a spotting scope. You order your choice of lunch dinner at breakfast, the food was all fresh and very well presented, I was given alternatives for gluten free too. They organise taxis and excursions for you. The staff were all friendly and very efficient, thank you especially to Markel for making the last few days of our holiday so pleasant.
