Beautiful facility with wonderful, attentive staff in this little bit of paradise. The food and drinks were top notch. We highly recommend the snorkeling trip to Cano Island and the walking tour of the National Park.

Hotel's Favourite
Copa de Arbol was the last stop on our 2 week holiday to Costa Rica. Having already stayed at 3 exceptional hotels the bar was set pretty high but we weren’t disappointed. Copa de Arbol lived-up to all our expectations and more. Located by a secluded beach, on the edge of primary rainforest , the hotel can only be accessed by boat and from the moment you step aboard you are well looked after, stopping along the way to see monkeys in the mangroves or dolphins out to sea before being welcomed on dry land with dry towels, cold drinks and a warm smile. The hotel consists of around 10 air conditioned cabins nestled in the forest. Ours (#5) had 2 floors with a veranda over-looking the gardens and out to sea. Each morning we woke-up to the sounds of wildlife and the call of the ocean and from our veranda we saw monkeys, macaws, woodpeckers, iguanas, parakeets… the list goes on (all before breakfast and all from the comfort of our cabin) There is a tiered infinity pool and a communal reception, bar and open dining room area serving fantastic cocktails and delicious home cooked food. 4 o’clock marks the start of happy hour, the perfect precursor to watching the sun sink into the ocean from sunset beach. With so few rooms, service is intimate, attentive and oh so friendly. Everyone is on first-name terms. At night, if you’re lucky as you reminisce about the day you have had, the wildlife you have seen, the tours and/or activities you’ve been on (snorkelling, kayaking, horse riding, hiking, night walks) you may be treated to a spectacular light show from the distant storms across the ocean. You may come to Copa de Arbol for the romantic seclusion and prospect of wildlife but you leave with fond memories of the people who have looked after you and made your stay extra special. I’m reluctant to name them individually as I will invariably forget someone but from the front desk to the bar staff, dining room to pilots, kitchen to housekeeping, maintenance to tour guides, everyone goes out of their way to ensure your stay is a memorable one.

This place never misses a beat. They are giving you the best of everything. From the amazing top notch chefs preparing exquisite meals throughout your entire stay. To all of the lovely and beyond helpful staff members. This is our third trip back and we plan to visit again. Our teens love the stand up paddle boards and kayaks and snorkeling gear provided by the staff, who will bring the kayaks or boards right to the waters edge for you. We stayed in a different cabin this time down by the beach. We saw so many birds and monkeys while we relaxed on our deck. The three tier pool and jacuzzi at the top is an engineering feat unto itself being in the middle of the jungle with only boat access. We hiked their own trail that is about an hour long loop where you are submerged into the Corcovado National Park. Absolutely incredible. I could ramble on and on about our experience at Copa De Arbol. I will just leave my review as one that I hope sends anyone to this magical destination to explore and experience for themselves. A true nature lovers paradise. Thanks again for giving us the amazing experience we have become accustomed to when we arrive on your shore. Many Blessings..

Unforgettable experience - loads of wildlife, fantastic tranquil location on the beach front but in the middle of the jungle too. The staff were super helpful and friendly. The lodges had everything we needed - including well needed AC !! The view across the ocean was mesmerising. They organised a few tours for us - Canó island snorkelling and the national park tour - both were fantastic - very very experienced guides and we saw so much wildlife (on land and in the sea !!) The food was fantastic and the bar well stocked. We walked into Drake Bay for a drink and rummage around, it was a lovely walk along the beach and covered pathways. From the moment we arrived by boat ALL the staff were very helpful and attentive, including the lodge’s dogs. We flew down via SANSA, which was really easy from SJO - door to door in 2 1/2 hours… hard to beat 4 day stay !

From the minute you make contact with Summer (for US reservations) to the minute you leave, the experience here is FANTASTIC! It is an adventure just getting to this gem alone. Staff is some of the best folks I have ever met on a vacation. The food and drinks were just perfect. My wife and I are vegan and the staff catered to all our diet needs to perfection. There are plenty of side trips to go on, or just stay here at the beach and hike the local trails. The wildlife is all around you in their natural setting. Sloths, monkeys, toucans, parakeets, macaws are just some of the beautiful critters you will see. We are looking forward to another trip to this perfect location. If you want the perfect blend of beach and jungle, this is the place for you. Leave the electronics behind and unwind. Thanks again for a wonderful experience!

We are just back from 6 nights at Copa de Arbol and are going through withdrawal. It's quite difficult to capture the magic of this place, but we loved the natural beauty, the genuinely gracious and generous hospitality of all the staff, the privacy and chance to truly unwind, and the opportunity to explore nature. The food and drinks were fresh and delicious, the restaurant staff all the kindest people. We are missing the people, waking up with the sounds of the animals and light of sunrise, paddling at the end of the day to watch the sunset, just chilling out and enjoying the gift of being there. If you go (and you should!), you don't need fancy clothes but pack things that dry easily and have a few sets of shorts, tops, bathing suits in addition to your casual clothes. It's humid and you're in the rainforest - at some point you're going to get wet and it's hard to get things dry. As advised by Copa de Arbol's helpful packing list, be sure to bring binos to enjoy all the early morning birds and other wildlife viewable from your porch. And a flashlight! As a city girl I did not fully appreciate what dark can truly be. The cabinas are all wonderfully private and nestled into the environment, so you'll want that to walk back from dinner. Copa de Arbol is truly special. We hope to have the good fortune to return.

This is a perfect spot for privacy, fun and connection with nature. Great location, great service and people. We spent an awesome 5 days here and will return. If you love rain forest, beach, low crowds, friendly people, and secluded space for fun, peace of mind and relaxation, this is the spot to go. Thank you Copa De Arbol, we had a wonderful time.

From arrival to departure we were guests in a beautiful place where the staff, without exception, made us feel welcome and well looked after. The accommodation is well designed, very well maintained, and kept spotless. The staff are unobtrusive but always available, friendly, attentive and thoughtful so that they seem to anticipate your wishes. The food and table service is outstanding. The range of activities to choose from is considerable and give the opportunity to explore fascinating tropical environments in the adjacent national park and nearby nature reserve - from life in the rain forest to life underwater. Altogether very relaxing, rejuvenating, and certainly worth visiting and revisiting.

Stayed for three nights and loved it. We were in #3 Cacao. We didn’t use the downstairs area very much as it was quite hot and humid; super thankful for the A/C! We actually got cold several nights while we were there and had to turn the fans off and A/C up a little bit. If you go, make sure to check your windows that they are all closed properly before getting the A/C going too much. The food was spectacular. Huge shout out to everyone in the kitchen area! The drinks were great and reasonably priced, the food was top notch and everything had great flavor. The menu is limited, but that is so you can have super fresh ingredients. Henry, Jankal, and Maricio (probably just butchered the spelling on that, sorry) did a fantastic job. Made sure we had no allergies, remembered our orders and preferences, adapted to our quick dining style, and always made you feel like family! Albert, Lisseth, and the whol front desk crew were super great as well. The service is really impeccable at this resort. Albert helped me resolve an issue with my itinerary for later in the trip. He didn’t have to help, but volunteered and went above and beyond. They were all very friendly, always checking on you when they saw you at dinner, or walking past. Overall the resort was fantastic. Exceeded my high expectations and the service is unmatched. The food is phenomenal, and the activities offered were great. We went horseback riding which was very enjoyable and to the Corcovado National Park which is a must. However, make sure to take your seasick medication before boarding the boat as sitting in the front can get quite bouncy.
