After 2 weeks travelling in Costa Rica this was certainly the highlight of our trip. A fantastic location with great accommodation and a lovely restaurant that provides very tasty food. We did the two inclusive trips that were both a fantastic experience, the first was a guided walk along trails in the Corcovado National Park where we saw plenty of wildlife and the second was Cano island where we snorkelled and saw a variety of beautiful fish, turtles and reef sharks. We couldn't have finished our trip in a better way.
Beautiful lodges surrounded by jungle and views of the ocean. Very helpful and friendly staff who supported each activity with useful advice. Abundant wildlife to observe from the terrace and restaurant. Great food.
We stayed at this beautiful resort for 3 nights in early March, and it's been one of my favourite experiences in Costa Rica. This was our fourth visit to this amazing country, and we always wanted to visit The Osa Peninsula. This hotel is the perfect place to do so. Wonderful grounds, amazing wildlife around the hotel and surrounding walking trails, and the staff are some of the most helpful and welcoming I've even known. The food is outstanding - you will not go hungry here! We also went on the Cano Island tour and visited Corcovado National Park with the hotel boat captains/guides. A wonderful place and hopefully we'll return in the future.
After a single night stopover in San José, we got a very small plane to Drake bay where we were picked up for a short bumpy drive and little boat into the hotel. This place is stunning. The rooms are netted to keep the bugs out and a good stomp uphill to get to but were otherwise excellent with a fab outside area to sit and enjoy the wildlife from. I loved the food which was tasty and elegantly presented and it’s a small enough hotel that we met people at lunch and dinner for a nice chat. The trips were amazing, Corcovado and Canó island cannot be faulted, we saw scarlet macaw, coati, tapir, stingrays, devil rays and dolphins to sing the highlights. We left via the sea and mangroves which was really exciting. Overall I would say this was an absolute gem and one I would highly recommend!…
This is an awesome resort in a most beautiful part of Costa Rica with a truly fantastic staff. We really enjoyed the 3 expeditions we took to Corcovado National Park, Caño Island Biological Marine Reserve for snorkeling, and the mangrove boat tour. All trips had exceptional, knowledgeable guides. We liked that on expedition days they had an early breakfast ready for you prior to departure and the trips returned around lunch time giving you the afternoon for resting in a hammock, reading or napping. Dinner is always preceded by included appetizers and drinks (drinks beyond water and coffee were the only things not included). All the meals were tasty and mealtimes were a great opportunity to meet other travelers from around the world, and we made many delightful acquaintances. Be sure to ask about the complementary sunset cruise which goes out before dinner and take advantage of the free kayaks to paddle up the river. There are several hikes to beaches and the nearby town which you can take on non-expedition days. Before we arrived we were concerned about all the steps up to our room as ours was at the very top of the hill, but it really wasn’t too bad and the views from up high were fantastic (we’re in our 60s in good health). We also asked the reservation staff to book our local flights to and from Drake Bay from San Jose which they were happy to do and added to our bill streamlining booking and payments. All transfers were perfect (car and boat after flying in). The staff was AMAZING and helped with anything we needed. Really my only complaint was that the showers were hard to regulate for temperature. Overall this is a fantastic trip for nature lovers and a great chance to socialize with like-minded travelers. We really recommend this terrific stay!…
We (family of 3 with an 8yo) had the most fabulous stay at Aguila de Osa. It was a perfect combination of activity and relaxation, with a daily morning excursion, relaxing afternoons, and extended meals in the open-air great room. We loved snorkeling at Caño Island and the guided tour of Corcovado park. Many thanks to Kike and Gabriel, our guides on those. And I couldn’t miss also thanking Roy, our Night Walk guide, who taught us how to mimic the call of the red-eyed tree frog! Our daughter loved the hotel dogs, Drake and Osa. Ask for Room 14 - it was a hike, but well worth it for the porch and views. We spent hours bird-watching from the porch and napping in the hammocks. It was an unforgettable experience!!!
Unique and unforgettable. Very attentive and kind staff. Great food. Wonderful vieuw from the room. Amazing flowers. Interesting path to Baya Drake, a strange and old village where we founded cuty souvenir.
Great hospitality, incredibly friendly staff. Great experiences, enjoying the flora and fauna. Nightly meals with the other guests were really enjoyable. I enjoyed sitting on my porch every evening and enjoying the plethora of birds, and other abundant wildlife. A great getaway.
We stayed here for three nights and booked a snorkeling trip which was very good. The staff and the owner Brad are very friendly and welcoming. We had the basic room which had two double beds and a decent ensuite. You get very well fed here and some of the meals the chef produced was excellent and the quantities very generous. A lot of us could not eat the portions served. Staff went out of f their way to help. There are loads of stairs to climb so if you have mobility problems, this is not for you. The noise of the jungle is constant so if you want quiet, this will not be for you. There are insects galore all around so be mindful of this. Deet did not prevent us from being bitten. Corcovado is a short walk away but we could not find much to see or do there. This was one hell of an experience but the insects did freak me out to be honest. Everyone sits together for meals which is great as it gets everyone mingling. Appetizer s are at six and dinner at seven. Lovely cocktails.…
After stopping by for an afternoon coffee, we were sold on an evening dining experience. We were not staying at this lodge. The cocktails and ceviche were good. The salad was average. The main courses were a cold shrimp concoction and a beef dish lacking flavor and texture. The shrimp dish looked like a colorful dessert that was served cold - much to my wife’s surprise and to that of others. The beef dish did have a flavorful broth with plain white rice and whole small potatoes that were boring. The dessert was an overly sweet and inedible confection. The ambiance was, of course, wonderful, which is what I felt we were paying for. For such a gorgeous lodge this meal did not meet my expectations. The suave waiter that sold us the meal is an excellent salesman.
