I thoroughly enjoyed this resort. The mood was very relaxed and everyone working at the hotel were completely accommodating. The food was great. The tours that were arranged went very well and I was very happy with all. I would definitely recommend this resort to anyone looking for a relaxing, non-stressful visit to the Osa Peninsula.

We went to Drake Bay Wilderness Resort as a family vacation with 9 people spanning the ages of 8 to 71. Everyone loved it. The staff are incredibly friendly and it almost feels like being cared for by family. The food was very good and varied. It is not strongly seasoned so it appeals to a multitude of tastes. Every...

We booked our stay through booking.com and arrived at the resort at 12.00. All went really well and we got a boat to the area and then were welcomed with a cold flannel and drink. We went to check in and we're told to sit down and relax. After nearly 1 hour my partner went to speak to the receptionist...

Hello Georgina, it is good to know that the rest of your vacation went well, I was honestly worried that it was ruined after the misunderstanding with your booking reservation. I think that I should go over your review and try to clear things from my end, and I sincerely hope that you take the time to read. When your...

This was our fourth time to Costa Rica. We wanted to stay in one place and take day trips and this was perfect. Family-run with excellent staff; we loved all the guides, many who have been working there for years, and were very knowledgeable about birds, wildlife, plants, and trees. We also loved our visit to Corcovado Nacional Parque, our...

This was my second visit to Drake Bay Wilderness Resort. Back in 2004 my sister and I made a trip to the Osa Penninsula and really enjoyed our time there and our stay at DBWR. I was so happy to return with my family, 2 sons and husband, and to share this special place with them. Things were exactly the...

We stayed three nights here on our tour of Costa Rica and it was the best lodging of our trip. The resort served as our base for exploring the Corcovado area and has a lovely setting on the bay with large lawns and lots of flowers. They have a dive center, free washing, a bar and a restaurant with a...

Beach view chalets in well-designed garden/park with lots of arty features like murals & sculptures around. Great spot for trekking & snorkeling- we saw whales, dolphins, turtles and crocs. Loads of good food and lovely helpful staff. Free laundry & free kayak use- we went up the river & out to sea to see the sunset. Great little sea water...

It is difficult to find reasonably priced accommodations in Drake Bay. They are either at the low end, but not that livable or at the high end making it uneconomical. This place was reasonably good. The rooms are clean although closed in so that air conditioning is necessary. The food is included and was okay, not great. Staff were really...

We spent 3 nights at this remote resort on the Osa Peninsula. Beginning with our boat ride from Sierpe to our return there our experience was incredible. The staff was welcoming, the food delicious, the accommodations clean and spacious (although rustic), and tours amazing. Manuel, our tour guide from DBWR, was knowledgeable and passionate about his job. from snorkeling to...

We spend 3 nights here with the all family (5 of us), this was really good. The rooms and the food are somehow simple but you feel so well! Good balance between visiting the wildlife in the morning and relaxing in the afternoon. Nice beach around and canoeing activity. We hope we will return some days. A special thanks to...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Since it was founded in 1985, Drake Bay Wilderness Resort has continued to be a family run business. Our focus has been to take good care of our guests so that they'll feel right at home. We try to be as flexible as possible, taking into consideration people´s needs and we do our very best to fulfill special requests. For instance, we will prepare meals for special diets. Furthermore, the hotel is situated in one of the most beautiful locations in the area. It has large open areas with a bounty of beautiful flowers, tropical plants, big mango trees, and beach almond trees that attract the raucous macaws. The property gives you the feel of being in a private island since the river flows along the backside of the property and the whole front side meets the ocean. In addition to this, most visitors come to us by boat and the access by land to the hotel is a small path, unreachable by car, that is submerged in a jungle. Best of all, there is a paradise like view of the bay and ocean, reflecting the deep blue sky and, beyond that, hills bound in lush forests. We offer all sorts of extras that help make our guests' stay more comfortable and enjoyable. For example, we include a full laundry service. Kayaks close to the water are always at our guests' disposal. We have a restaurant, bar, swimming pool, dock, and hammocks to relax under the shade of a tree with the cool ocean breeze blowing on you. From our hotel we take guests on adventures in snorkeling, hiking, diving, canoeing and whale watching. Visitors often see four species of monkeys, sloths, tapir, caiman and a myriad of birds, including the scarlet macaw, mangrove hawk, toucan... ... more   less
