The Jaguar's Jungle Lodge & Hostel is a beachfront rainforest lodge next to the Corcovado National Park. All of our facilities are located steps from the ocean with views of Cano Island. Find waterfalls and sea caves, go on night hikes, pick exotic fruit and take a tour to Cano Island for the best snorkeling in Costa Rica. In addition to our incredible guided tours, you can explore the rainforest on your own. We will provide you with a trail map of nearby beaches, waterfalls, tide pools, and even a bat cave that comes alive at dusk. Every day is an adventure at the most remote jungle lodge in Costa Rica! All three meals are included with your stay, as well as snack & tea time at 3 pm every day. We also have a bar onsite with hanging tables facing the ocean. There has been a recent major renovation to the property so many images you find online are no longer accurate. We are boat access only! There are no roads to get to us, and we operate 100% off-grid. Please see our website for a detailed boat guide, packing list, and to book tours instantly. We strive to make your trip easy and enjoyable while giving you a profound connection with nature.
We stayed here for 5 nights and are happy we did because there's so much to do at the Jungla Del Jaguar eco-lodge. We were greeted with cold towels, smoothies, and lots of hands to help us with our stuff. The staff here are amazing at what they do and were largely why our experience was so great. Rob, the manager, was very warm, kind, and knowledgable. He was present to help us with everything we needed. We felt super welcome by him and the amazing bartender, Eddy; who was always there to whip up some delicious drinks and play great music. He even danced salsa and bachata with us which was a blast! Diego & Anibal were our guides on a snorkel excusion to Cano Island, as well as a small hike to see primary rainforest trees, and some kayak fishing off the coast. If you do the snorkeling, be sure to wear a rash guard (uv protecting shirt) and bring reef - safe sunscreen to apply and reapply. Your buns, face, and back will experience a lot of sun because you'll be so busy looking down at fish, reef sharks, and turtles. The salt water will wash off your sunscreen within 30-45 mins. We got lucky and saw a pod of spotted dolphins and got them to play with us by creating a wave for them to surf in from the back of our boat!! We'll never forget that. Laundry services were offered and Evelyn had our clothes back to us in less than 24 hours. Everyone made sure to let us know when there was wildlife onsite, like Tapirs and tropical birds. Lastly, but certainly not least.. huge shout out Hazel & Luis in the kitchen. They made us some truly delicious meals. Home-made bread, pastries for tea time, desserts after dinner, vegetarian options with ingredients from their garden, breaded fish filets from the fresh fish we caught... we were spoiled. Thank you all so much for such a special & beautifully rugged experience. The sunsets here are stunning. On the boat ride in and out of here, it's likely you'll get wet from a wave or sun burned. a cap that will stay on with the wind, sunglasses, quick-dry uv protectant clothing are ideal (or sunscreen). If your bag has a rain cover, use it for the boat ride. It's hot here so be sure to bring lots of bathing suits and light clothing to hang out in. Their tables are nice to play cards on after dinner. If you hike, be sure to do a tick check after. Be mindful that these guys are remote and have to have all supplies boated in. It's courteous to them to book sooner versus last minute so that they are better prepared for your stay. Pura vida! ¡Pura vida!…

Epic experience, 3 of us took a trip to Costa Rica for the first time and after having followed Leo and Elizabeth's journey to creat an eco lodge for a few years i finally made it to the remotest spot, In the thick of the jungle. If been super remote is your dream, then lodge del Jaguar is where you have to experience the Jungle. The tours were great, hose riding through the forest was a bucket list experience. I run spearfishing trips and Leo was humble enough to take me to explore his play ground, we secured fresh fish for everone at the lodge and just chilled to epic sunsets. Staying at the lodge getting to see the wild life on property was incredible in itself. Thanks For a trip of a life time can't wait to journey to the Jungle again one day. Cpt Hylt Wess.

The Jaguar Lodge vacation was such a great experience! Everything from our arrival with Rob and the two sisters Sophia and Isabel made us feel welcomed and attended to. Our boat captain, Diego was such a pleasure and he also do an arts and crafts day during his free time. Anival was quick to always get our room and provide assistance. Fabian was tour guide for snorkeling and made it the best experience I could imagine. Eddy the barman had the best laugh and the kitchen.

Not only was the Lodge beautiful, and full of animal life, but the staff were welcoming and top notch. Diego the boat captain was more than happy to set up a beach bonfire, teach us all how to weave hats, and was definitely a master boat captain. Fabian was a knowledgeable snorkel guide that had eagle eyes underwater diving down to point out lobster, turtles, different types of fish. Eddy manning the bar was always in a great mood, very inviting and quick to make the best cocktails. Anival was also a great help with assisting on the boat and around the property when we were finding our way around. If you're looking for a relaxing remote Costa Rican getaway, this is the perfect spot. The Sea View Rancho is feet away from the ocean and the nearby mango tree bring great animal viewing from the patio. Like what their website recommends, waterproof bags and/or carrying your luggage in plastic bags will help them from getting wet when getting off and on the boat and from any tropical rains during your stay.…

I stayed with my mom 5 nights here, and experienced a warm welcome of the staff. The kitchen, Hazel and Yordany made amazing food, and especially Eddy, the smiling barman, made delicious drinks that was perfect to enjoy at the sunset. We had the pleasure of having Yasnir and Diego as guides to the Corcovado tour and snorkel tour. They were very engaged and good at spotting animals and fish. Everything was managed by a lovely manager, Robert, that always had time for a laugh and a talk. We felt very comfortable and welcomed, thank you!

My husband and I spent 5 days at Jaguars Jungle Lodge and loved every moment. We were greeted by Monica (who has a spectacular smile), a cool wash cloth for our hot faces (we were not use to the heat!) and a delicious icy smoothie. We stayed in the Rancho room – a darling round hut with thatched roof, set a little apart from the other buildings with an amazing view of the ocean from our little deck and/or bed. The entire staff were amazing, always happy to answer questions and offer any help needed and Monica kept us apprised of when and where we needed to be for the various excursions we’d booked. We did the night hike, the AM Bird watching walk and the Corcovado National Park Overnight: San Pedrillo excursion with Yasnir Salazar. Yasnir is an excellent guide, keeping an eye on everyone in the group and providing lots of information on the animals and plants we encountered. He worked hard to locate the critters we were most interested in seeing. Yasnir’s knowledge exceeded our expectations. We appreciate his willingness to share his love for this areas flora and fauna with us and loved the excursions we took with him. Diego Ramirez was my guide for the Sea Kayaking excursion. He pointed out and named many birds flying overhead and perched on the rocks and answered all of my questions. He found the best spot to do some snorkeling and saved my phone when I jumped into the ocean and turned my kayak upside down – lol. This is a fun excursion and Diego Ramirez is a great guide. In addition, we took the horseriding excursion with Wilbert Garita. Wilbert doesn’t speak English and we speak no Spanish so communication was more challenging, but Wilbert pointed out various animals on and off during our excursion. His horses are small but sturdy and very well trained. Riding through the jungle was great fun. …

We're so thrilled that you and your husband had a great time at our lodge! Monica, Yasnir, Diego, and Wilbert will be delighted to hear your praises. It sounds like you made the most of your stay with us, experiencing the rich wildlife and nature we're so privileged to be around. Don't worry about the kayak incident, it happens to the best of us - glad Diego was there to help! And it's wonderful that you enjoyed the horse riding, despite the language barrier. Wilbert's horses are indeed small but mighty! Thanks for choosing Jaguars Jungle Lodge. We hope to see you again for more adventures! Best, The Jaguars Jungle Lodge Team

If you are looking for a completely remote and off the beaten path experience, this is it. If you are looking for luxury, comfort, and white-glove service, this is just not your place. PROPERTY: First, the property is stunning - sitting right on the coast with sunsets, ocean breezes, hiking trails, and 2 private beaches. No pool. We stayed in the Rancho bungalow and the ocean was our front yard. It was beautiful, but be aware that the bathroom is SEPARATE and shared ... a short walk up the hill to the outdoor sink and rustic shower. Also there is no A/C so it can get hot in the room! They generate all their own electricity so lights also can be very dim. I was surprised there was not more wildlife on the property but it used to be a farm and they are trying to re-forest it. FOOD: The food was fresh and delicious although - understandably due to the remoteness - selections are limited. (How cool is it that the fish at dinner is 'whatever they caught that day?' My barracuda ceviche was amazing!). Eddie took care of us at the bar every night - what a delight he is, and his drinks are world-class! He even led the whole bar in a spontaneous dance class one night. Thanks for the memories, Eddie! I can still hear his hilarious laugh. TOURS: Diego was a doll - a great boat driver and fisherman, and took us on a detour to see the brown boobies on the island. Our snorkeling tour was excellent - we saw many colorful fish, sea turtles, a ray, and dolphins that played in the boat's wake. We also signed up for the Corcovado National Park hike with Yaznir. Be warned that the trails are VERY rustic and rough with roots, rocks, and steep muddy paths - not for the faint of heart, injured, or out of shape. Also we were told 3 different answers when we asked how long the hike was (it ended up being 4+ hours). We honestly didn't see that many animals or interesting things compared to the reputation of Corcovado's abundant wildlife. My companion was fairly miserable and wished she had stayed at the resort that day. One of the reasons we chose La Jungla del Jaguar was because it was advertised as adults-only. However, we were disappointed and surprised to see several children on the property - both guests and staff family. It didn't ruin the experience for us but I was confused ... It's fair to be aware that the overall the vibe is more that of an international hostel than a fancy all-inclusive. Very laid-back and pura vida. Ben and Sofia and other staff were always very friendly and helpful. One day the guys climbed a coconut tree, knocked down a coconut, and hacked off the top of it so we could drink coconut water straight from the source. Experiences like this are what it's all about! …

Thanks for taking the time to leave such a detailed review. We're glad that you enjoyed the unique aspects of our lodge, like the ocean-front views, fresh food, and the charm of Eddie at the bar! We understand your concerns about some of the rustic aspects of the lodge, such as the shared bathrooms, lack of A/C, and the challenges of our excursions. As you rightly pointed out, our lodge is indeed an off-the-beaten-path experience and doesn't claim to offer luxury in the traditional sense. We're proud of our eco-conscious efforts, like generating our own electricity and reforesting the land, and we're glad that you appreciated these. We're sorry to hear about your experience with children on the property. We allow kids 6+. If a guest brings a younger child it is against our policy, but we can not put them back on the boat and send them away. We'll share your kind words with Ben, Sofia, Eddie, and the rest of our team. It's moments like sipping coconut water straight from the tree that make the Jaguars Jungle Lodge experience so special! Thank you again for your review and we hope to welcome you back for more unique experiences. Best, The Jaguars Jungle Lodge Team

Our family had the perfect vacation here. We stayed in the Kinkajou cabin, which was beautiful and totally worth it. The little fans above the bed were a great touch. The food was fresh, clean and really yummy - the Chef was great and cooked our freshly caught fish to perfection. Absolutely recommend booking tours in advance. The guides were very knowledgable. Fishing with Diego was like fishing with my friends on my home river. The snorkeling was great. Hiking with Yaznir in the National Park was great because he was equally excited to see animals and birds as we were. Hazel made our cabin feel like home each day. And Eddy, behind the bar kept us hydrated and made sure we were being taken care of. Honestly - we have never stayed at an "all inclusive" type hotel/resort - but wow - we felt so well taken care of - But most important was the land and the ocean. Absolutely beautiful, so many private little beaches. Monkeys every day. Wonderful boat rides for the tours. Just do it - book all the tours - make sure you have a day or two to just relax on the beaches. Enjoy! And thank you to the family that runs Jungla - thank you for sharing it all with us!…

Yaznir is the best, passionate and lovely tour Guide I could have ever wished for. He created such a great atmosphere during the tours and his knowledge about jungle life is just not from this Planet. I felt very comfortable and safe while hiking with him and he was absolutely caring and looking after me. Also Diego is. These two special human beings were the best on my stay in your paradise and I hope to see them soon! You are so lucky to have them in your Team! :) Thank you so much for everything!

If you are looking for more then just a place to sip margaritas on the beach, then this place is where you want to be. I participated in almost all of the activities on offer and they were all spectacular! The guides are fun and caring, plus they live at the lodge so you could actually talk to them outside of the tour. When I can back from a tour I didn't feel like the experience was over because just being at the lodge is in itself an experience! Thats the best way I can describe the feeling I had here but it is hard to find the words to describe it!
