Red Feather Lodge is often celebrated for its clean, comfortable rooms and inviting atmosphere, with culturally-themed décor that many guests enjoy. Its prime location near the Grand Canyon and local dining options is a significant draw. While some guests find the rooms to be basic and occasionally noisy, the overall cleanliness and professional service provided by the staff contribute to a welcoming stay. Opinions on value are mixed, with some travelers citing fair pricing and others questioning the cost, particularly due to the absence of breakfast.

After much scouring on the internet for a practical accommodation that would place us close to the entrance, we chose this one as it seemed to be reasonable in respect to its location. We stayed on the hotel side, which from the exterior seemed much nicer than the motel side. The room was clean and comfortable with 2 lounge chairs and I appreciated the well lit bathroom. It's a hotel with a lot of rooms so it felt more impersonal with its long hallways. However, the cleaning staff were personable which was basically our only contact with personnel, as the front desk was basically behind large plexiglass walls. All in all, it is a good place to stay at.

My husband and I enjoyed our one night stay in this hotel.

We chose the hotel because it is next door to Plaza Bonita, our favorite restaurant in Tusayan. We have eaten at Plaza Bonita at least six times over the last 9 years. Nowadays during COVID-19, Plaza Bonita has an outdoor, shaded, front porch set up with tables for two. We were glad we could sit outside for dinner.

This is the first time we have stayed at a hotel in Tusayan. We usually stay within Grand Canyon National Park in our RV or a hotel.

The Red Feather has a good location within the tiny town of Tusayan. It is across the street from a steak house, and kitty corner from a Starbucks. The small general store is very close, as is McDonalds. The gas station is nearby.

The Red Feather apparently has a new section and an old section. I believe our room was in the new section. Our room was comfortable as you can see from the photos. We were not on the highway side of the hotel. The only noise we got was from the ice machine outside our room.

I like that our room had a small empty refrigerator we could store things in.

The hotel has a small pool. A lot of kids (and their parents) were enjoying the pool when we visited.

I don’t think the hotel currently offers breakfast, just coffee. We could have eaten breakfast at Plaza Bonita, Starbucks, or McDonalds. Instead we had the tasty coffee cake (pound cake) sold by the Bike Shop cafe within the Park at the Grand Canyon National Park Visitors Center.

This may not be the fanciest hotel in Tusayan, but for us it was the most convenient, since Plaza Bonita was next door. Some other hotels in Tusayan ( Best Western Hotel and possibly Canyon Hotel) in summer 2018 had very nice hotel fine dining restaurants, but I am not convinced those fine dining hotel restaurants are fully operational in summer 2020 due to the pandemic.

We stayed at the Red Feather Lodge and it had plenty of good amenities. The hotel was extremely clean. I'm talking five star clean so that made it worth the higher nightly rate. They have a small pool that is heated with a hot tub but they are outside so if it's cold the heated pool doesn't really make a big difference. The location is in the middle of it all so you'll find plenty to do when you aren't at the actual canyon.
The lack of offered services will change the star rating I give them though. The wifi can only support 2 devices at a time, not good for bored children or families. They do not serve any type of breakfast at all. Not even grab and go like dry cereal options or muffins, which most places are offering due to Covid. That makes the rate of over $200 a night kind of a bummer.
I needed a razor to shave my legs, they do not offer anything in a section of "things you may have forgotten to pack" as most hotels do. Even if I had to pay for it that would have been okay but they simply didn't have them. When I found that out I asked about toothbrushes and other stuff, they offered nothing.

Overall not a bad place to stay because we all know cleanliness is next to Godliness but do not forget anything or you'll pay Hella money for it at the only convenience store in town. Now that I think about it, that may be on purpose 🤔

We stayed 2 nights in the motel. As this was a non smoking facility we made sure we went outside and sat in our truck because it was cold outside to smoke. Never once did we smoke in the room but to our surprise we were charged a 250 dollar cleaning fee and was told that the room smelled like smoke. If I had known they were going to do that I would have been disrespectful and smoked in the room everytime instead of bundling up and doing the right thing. If you are a smoker beware of this place. Also the refrigerator made a horrible noise that would wake you from your sleep and the charging station did not work. I wouldnt recommend this place to anyone

At a better price than most hotels in town, I was surprised at all the extras: complimentary tea, coffee, and apples available all day, on site laundry, fridge and microwave in the rooms. Very personable staff. The bus route to the park is right near by. I promise you'll be glad you left your car behind.

Very disappointed. End of a great vacation - visiting 8 national parks. Last stop the Grand Canyon. Unfortunately by the time we booked there was no rooms available at the Grand Hotel. So I ended up at the Red Feather. This place has a policy where you can only have two devices connected to the internet at one time. I was unaware when I booked but apparently it does say that on their website. When I inquired about it and asked if I could get additional access (which I offered to pay for) I was treated very rudely and given a song and dance about the remote location. It is 2021. Grow up and spend some money on legitimate internet equipment. The staff member was immediately defensive and confrontational. Which is what the ultimate problem is.

This same staff member showed her displeasure when my daughter asked for two additional towels and wash clothes. We have 4 people, they had 2 in the room. They had that information with the booking. So apparently they have 20 year old internet capabilities and expect families to share wash clothes.

Just overall very disappointed by how we have been treated. This place gets away with it because there is limited lodging here. Legitimate competition would be a real problem. If you can stay somewhere else do so.

I am so sorry that we could not meet your needs. The town is working on better internet availability for all the hotels and we continually look to see if there are other options. But when the area is full of people what we all have simply doesn't meet all the demand. We will keep trying as we do know it is frustrating .

The red feather is all you could ask for short of a free breakfast. The HOTEL portion was very nice and fresh looking. Our room was extremely quiet and outside noise wasn’t an issue at all. Spotlessly clean. Comfy beds and a spacious full bathroom made for a great stay. Plaza Bonita next door is a great deal for breakfast buffet with room key compared to McDonald’s.

1 mile from park entrance
Walkable to imax /restaurants
Shuttle nearby.

Based on the reviews we expected an adequate night's stay. Instead:

1. There were no elevators up to the second floor.
2. The walls were paper thin. We could hear people talking in the room next door, and they weren't talking loudly. We could hear the TV in other rooms. As people walked by outside our door, we could hear them talking clearly. As people started to leave at 5 am we could hear them taking their luggage back to their cars, their conversations, and their cars running. It was as if we had no walls. I don't expect absolute quiet, but this was the noisiest hotel I have ever stayed in.
3. No breakfast is provided and the "discount" they give for a local restaurant that had lousy food.
4. The bathrooms are so tiny, you could barely fit the shower, toilet and sink in the space.

I have never written a bad review of a hotel before because I always try and give the place the benefit of the doubt, but this place was awful. We stayed in the adjacent buildings, so maybe if you stayed in the rooms attached to the lobby you would have had a different experience.

If you want to be able to sleep, you may want to try a different location.

I am so sorry you had a less than good stay with us. From what you have described you were in our motel section of the property which are older and smaller rooms. Our hotel section (where you checked in at the front desk, does have elevators and indoor corridors and the rooms are larger. We do our best to keep both buildings updated and as renovated as possible but if you check our website it does define the difference between hotel rooms and less expensive motel rooms. These weeks around Easter and spring break we might have only had motel rooms available as it is a very busy three weeks or so at the Canyon. Again, I am sorry.

I've stayed at many places in Tusayan and Grand Canyon over the years. I chose Red Feather Lodge because I needed dog accommodations, and it was a good price for the area. I was very very pleased with everything. My visit was during COVID precaution times, and I am very particular about maintaining precautions. There was strict adherence to social distancing, plenty of hand sanitizer, sneeze guards at the desk, and employees were masked. The room was pristinely clean, they offered additional sanitizer wipes, and provided nice Bath and Body Works bathroom products. Great location, just minutes to the Grand Canyon entrance. Added bonus - lots of elk wandering around the sidewalk in the morning.

After searching for a hotel that has a unit with a kitchen, we found the Queen Suite Apartment at the Red Feather Lodge (might be the only one in town). It has a separate bedroom and a full size kitchen. It's located on the second floor of the motel building, but it was convenient to access as there is a stairway almost directly in front of the unit, which made loading and unloading process easier (but be advised that there is no elevator). The living room is large with a couch and a love seat, coffee table, small game table, recliner seat, and a fold out bed...and plenty of room. The bedroom has a queen size bed, but the mattress was a little too soft/springy and not the most comfortable. The bathroom was renovated with a walk in shower. The kitchen has a full size refrigerator, electric cooktop with 4 burners, dishwasher, and garbage disposal. It's supplied with plates, bowls, cups and utensils, etc. (Just make sure you take the following if needed: dishwash sponge, kitchen scissors, strainer, paper towels.) Overall, the unit was a bit dated, but it had everything we needed, and we enjoyed our stay. The front desk was friendly and quick with their service. We'd stay here again.

(BTW, I agree with the other reviewers that winter is the best time to visit Grand Canyon. No crowd, nice and cool, snow capped canyon looks great, easy to parking anywhere, etc.)

No, sorry, but the shuttle the National Park Service operates does not run in December. The only other option might be using a taxi service (run by Xanterra from inside the Park) but I am not sure what their December schedule will be.
