#2 of 31 hotels in Sudak
Travellers' Choice
Our hotel is located near the sea, in a quiet and cozy place, within a few minutes walk on flat ground from Embankment of Sudak. Near the resort grand hotel "Soldaya" there is the famous medieval Genoese fortress, which is visible from many rooms, balconies and terraces of the hotel complex. The history here is as palpable clearly as a light breath of the breeze, the roar of the surf and the grandeur of the mountains. Soldaya Grand Hotel & Resort ia a new hotel in Sudak - built in Mediterranean style, in the form of an ancient Italian street. You will find yourself in an amazing medieval atmosphere and forget about your worries and problems plunging deeply in the unique aura of the hotel. Everything is specially designed, constructed and arranged to make your stay in Sudak the most comfortable and enjoyable.

The hotel is a sanctuary in this little beachside town. It's an escape from the noise and commotion of the beach and city centre. The rooms are well designed, the place is quiet, the staff very friendly and some speak English. The restaurants offer a better quality of food than can be found in the local restaurants.

Hello Dear TA members, I stayed in Soldaya Grand Hotel & Resort in October 2018, here is my impression of this property. As stated in the title of my review - this is a private business that is striving to become better and it deserves a high praise for their dedication to the customers care and great concern about their guests` satisfaction. its clearly a team effort and they are really doing great... Things that i certainly like: 1/ The best view in all East Crimea - seriously, the Genovese fortress is a jewel and the direct unobstructed view to it from your terrace is to die for. 2/ well appointed and spacious rooms, especially of their comfort level with terrace ( and view..LOL) 3/ well appointed bathrooms with superb attention to details like hansgrohe taps, tiles with golden dots in the shower cabin and crispy clean bathroom towels. Bathrooms are very spacious, nicely designed and kept immaculately clean by the housekeeping. Signs * desinfected* greet you on the toilet seat and shower doorstep when you first enter after the check-in. The only thing that i would suggest to add: digital scales. 4/ Spa center - a great place to relax and unwind, especially if you stay in the hotel after the high season and when the Black Sea is too cold to swim. They have a beautiful indoor swimming pool ( odd shape, about 15x10 m), hammam ( Turkish bath) and Sauna with ante-room and warm stone beds. Spa/pool towels are provided inside. One of the hotel buildings has a direct access to the Spa Center, all other have to go there through the inner courtyard and the main pool. The main outdoor pool is unheated and can be used during summer time, but a Jacuzzi on its end is a heated device and you can enjoy it year round. No gym ( yet). 5/ wonderful, friendly and courteous staff. Always greet you with a smile, happy to assist with various matters, give orientation about the local things, arrange transport, tours, airport pick-up etc.Check-in/ check-out - swift, efficient, no problems/mistakes etc. They accept cash, visa and master cards. 6/ minibar is wonderfully empty and you can fully use its space to store few personal snacks or a bottle of wine. I highly support this newest trend in the hotel industry, it minimizes the cost, saves money on garbage removal and presents more convenience to the hotel guests. 7/ I totally confirm the opinion of previous reviewers that the hotel restaurant is THE best place to have dinner or lunch the town of Sudak, save you time and do not try the local eateries. Things to consider: 1/ the hotel is not pet friendly, but the GM ( i had a pleasure to talk personally to Ms. Kristina Duzenko) informed me that they are considering to open 2 special rooms for the pet owners next season, please check the updates on their offical site if you plan to travel with your furkids. 2/ The hotel is 100% not smoking place ( including balconies and terraces), please respect this rule. But i was taken aback by the designated smoking place 5 meters from the outdoor swimming pool right in the center of the hotel inner courtyard. It certainly must be moved out. 3/ Electric kettle is provided in each rooms ( tea cups and spoons too), but tea and coffee sachets, sugar, creamer etc are not. Please bring your own or buy in some mini market nearby. On request the hotel can provided few for you too. 4/ tap water in the hotel ( as in all Crimea) is not drinkable, but there is no sign about this important matter in the bathroom. Nor in the hotel directory. Please use only bottled water for drinking, tea/ coffee and brushing the teeth. Two ( 0.5l) bottles are provided daily by the housekeeping. you can also pick a few from the reception if you need or call them and they fetch you. The spa center is equipped with cooler and plastic cups. 5/ No pastry for breakfast? just zero. The GM though assured me that this would be the unfortunate temporary inconvenience because due to the low season their usual supplier is closed and they struggle to find the immediate replacement. In future they are going to hire a special pastry chef and produce all *morning pleasures* including croissants on the spot. Aside from that * zero pastry* their breakfast is plentiful, delicious and well presented morning spread that caters for all ages and tastes. Two coffee machines, juices, diary products, hot dishes, cold cuts, veggies, fruits etc... - you name it. 6/ The only fault that i can find in the room fixtures is safe box placed on the floor. Why?, its totally inconvenient....All the rest is a great example of taste transcending the usual interior hotel design and lots of personal owner`s ideas that are clearly seen in the execution of every detail, shape of chair, lamp , door handler or decoration of the corridor. Each building interior and each room type is unique. In total they have 73 rooms of which 7- standards, 3- deluxe and 14 ( most popular) comfort with terrace. During low season the usual occupancy is about 10%, in summer time - 100%. 7/ I can not comment their beach are and facilities as October is the end of season and all beaches are empty and non-descript. But the seaside is literally 5 min walk from the hotel front door and really easy to get there on your own. 8/ Things to do in the area ( as per my personal highest recommendation): ## Genovese Fortess ## Novy Svet Champagne factory ## Golitsyn`s Path in Novy Svet ## Hotel reception staff is also very knowledgeable about the area and things to do, please do not hesitate to approach them and ask assistance to organize your activity and sightseeing Note: Novy Svet is a small village just 5-6 km from Sudak, its 300 rub per taxi or 14 rub ( per pax) in the local bus, the bus stop is 50 meter from the hotel to the left up the street. Conclusion: I was really moved by the dedication of the owners, staff and GM of Soldaya Grand Hotel to make their hotel a true home away from home for all their guest, to achieve more that they re now and have goal and commitment to become GREAT. sincerely and with thanks to your dedication, i had a great time at your place and will recommend you to anyone in a heartbeat. Dear Mrs. Schonefeld, I'm so glad, that you found a possibility to visit our hotel. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to talk with you in person. I’m grateful for recommendations you kindly shared with me. We will surely take them into account in our further job. Thanks to your appropriate remarks, we eliminated small misunderstanding with smoking areas in the hotel inner courtyard. Nowadays they’re fully consistent with current legislation. We also acquired digital scales which can be given to the guest on a request. I'm also glad to note that today, all our guests have a possibility to taste freshly baked croissants for a breakfast. That of course, adds many positive emotions for our guests. I'm sure, that your reviews will be very informative and useful for all guests who is going to visit the Soldaya Grand Hotel & Resort in the future. I will be glad to see you again, and I hope that you will become a regular guest of our hotel. Yours faithfully, GM Duzenko Kristina

We went there in mid September of 2016. The weather was warm (+25C) and comfortable. The hotel is located in 50 m from a beach. Our room "Comfort with a terrace" was big enough for two of us. It was cleaned every day. And everyday we got fresh pure white towels. I liked the terrace (18sq.m) with a gorgeous view of the fortress. Breakfast was included. It was a buffet which offers a great choice. Food was excellent! There is a SPA indoors and a swimming pool outdoors (free). We were very pleased with a high standard of the hotel and the service there!
