My husband and I have stayed here 15 times. We came on our wedding night and have been back every year for an anniversary trip since then. Mark & Linda are awesome people who run a great hotel. We couldn't ask for a better experience each year. We enjoy hiking the trails nearby or exploring the ghost town on our visits. I highly recommend calling them to get a reservation if you need a place to stay in the area.

We really enjoyed our two nights in this old hotel near the White River. We had two rooms - each with their own bath (pretty tiny, but fine for us). The house is full of antiques, quilts, books and other interesting things. It's more like staying in someone's comfortable home. There are several well stocked kitchens that you can use for meals or snacks - and we loved the focus on recycling everything. Very quiet when we were there as early in the season. The owners, Linda and Mark are accessible and interesting people who can tell you where to hike or do other things. We enjoyed Calico Rock - nice artisan shop/little history museum around the corner. Linda and Mark can recommend restaurants - we enjoyed JoJos and PJs. And enjoyed spending time at Ozark Folk Life State Park that's not far. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and wish we had more time to do things like float the river or take more hikes.

This handmade block hotel is perched above the White River, covered in luscious vegetation on a street right out of 1920s Arkansas. Tongue and groove floors and some Ozarkian engineering only add to the charm. Parking is no problem. The rooms are clean, clean, clean with beautiful quilts, cotton bedspreads, eclectic thick towels, lace curtains, and bathrooms from another era. The bed/mattress I slept on was awesome (not worn out, firm, good quality). The kitchens upstairs were great for coffee, juice, a quick breakfast, or drinks and snacks in the evening (refrig, micros, sinks, utensils, etc.). There are antique pieces everywhere. Sunroom porches off the south are replete with overstuffed couches, chairs and a wonderful rainy day view with plenty of stuff to read and hanging art and pictures to digest. On clear days the open porches are perched on the second floor again ready for sitting, eating, drinking, and having fun or joining the hosts for games on the front lawn (Bocce ball anyone?). The hosts accommodated our every need, serving as information sources to local amenities and fabulous kayak trips on area streams and the White River. Want to fish or float? Use the River View as a base. It's all there. The River View is real and with a real history. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Thank you to Linda for helping make our recent stay in Calico Rock so enjoyable! We stayed in Rm 12. Quiet and comfortable. We were in the area turkey hunting in the Ozark National Forest. We enjoyed eating at Jo Jo's in Sylamore, which was Linda's recommendation for good food. This is not the Hampton Inn, Holiday Inn, etc. nor do they intend it to be. We were treated well, price was right and had plenty of room. Would stay again without hesitation!

This hotel and it's owners delivered a nice and comfortable nights rest. The building is definitely older but for my taste that simply adds to the charm. Mark and Linda both were very kind and worked with me on a late arrival and early check out. I only wish I could have stayed longer. I hope to be back in the future!
