I came here with my husband for our honeymoon and stayed for four nights. We had the sirene room which has a great view , a kitchen ,balconey and nice bedroom. The bathroom was very special built inside a rock. The staff of the hotel were friendly and very helpful. Especially Byron which we went for a hike with and...

I saw this beautiful hotel a couple of years ago when I visited the area and knew I would be back someday and stay here. When you get off the boat, little boys will grab your backpack or luggage whether you want them to or not, and carry it for you to your hotel. They know English and will engage...

I've just returned from a solo trip to Lake Atitlan from my home in Brooklyn, during which I stayed in Aaculaax for each of my seven nights. I ADORED the place and look forward to coming back with one or both of my teenage daughters. The hotel is intimate, quirky, and well-designed--and I felt beautifully taken care of by Lilly,...

The hotel is gorgeous, and in a wonderful, set-back location. My boyfriend and I splurged on this hotel, and stuck to hostels the rest of out time in Guatemala. The room was LOVELY and the staff was very kind and willing to help. The price is just high. After talking to some locals (who were shocked to find out that...

Thank you for your comments. We always appreciate guest feedback. These guests stayed during our busiest time of year in which our rates are elevated as are rates all over Guatemala. They would have paid 30% less had they come 2 weeks before or after. We thought we had changed our website description about the hot tub but has since...

Man... I don't even know where to begin with this place. San Marcos is a crazy place full of hippies and new-age weirdos, and I can see why Aaculaax would appeal to them. It is surrounded by awesome landscaping and recycled art. It is absolutely stunning. They give good massages for real cheap (Q125 for a 75 minute massage!). Be...

Seriously, if you can afford the Aaculaax and they have room, stay there! The hotel is a work of love and art and creativity and is amazingly beautiful. Check out their website for photos and a history of their work. I stayed for a week in Granadilla, which has a view of the garden but not of the lake. This...

Do not stay here if you have arachnophobia. I am currently sitting on the high alert after the very kind night watchman took care of 2 of the biggest spiders I've ever seen for me (apparently he thought they were small, which adds to my terror). I saw this coming because we are in the middle of the woods surrounded...

Thank you for your comments and we are so sorry you had a difficult stay. Hotel Aaculaax is built right into the rocks of the hillside and next to a nature reserve; being close to nature also means we have critters. Being ecologically conscious we do not fumigate, i.e. poison our environment which goes against our "green" principles. Most of...

Our itinerary ended up not permitting that we stay there, but I did want to mention their responsiveness over email, flexibility, and kindness. The photos look amazing and I would definitely like to try this place out.

We have stayed at the Aaculaax five times and have only glowing praise for the hotel and the staff. It is one incredible place! Hotel Aaculaax is extremely beautiful with very comfortable beds.. An ideal hotel if thats all you want. Myself and 3 friends booked this hotel as a bit of a splurge for a birthday (we are backpackers) and overall were satisfied with the stay but can all agree that we have stays at $15 hostels that are more accommodating. We all...

Thanks for your comments; we always appreciate any feedback our guests provide us with. We are always hoping our guests will have an amazing stay and that we have the chance to satisfy their needs. Unfortunately we had the strongest earthquake (7.6) that Guatemala has had since 1976 shortly before this guest’s stay, which created severe difficulties in our Internet...
