We have stayed at the Aaculaax five times and have only glowing praise for the hotel and the staff. It is one incredible place! The setting is superb, the hotel is a work of art and the staff is warm, gracious and always responsive and helpful. We absolutely love it! Every room is different, full of fascinating details, many with...

Hotel Aaculaax is extremely beautiful with very comfortable beds.. An ideal hotel if thats all you want. Myself and 3 friends booked this hotel as a bit of a splurge for a birthday (we are backpackers) and overall were satisfied with the stay but can all agree that we have stays at $15 hostels that are more accommodating. We all...

Thanks for your comments; we always appreciate any feedback our guests provide us with. We are always hoping our guests will have an amazing stay and that we have the chance to satisfy their needs. Unfortunately we had the strongest earthquake (7.6) that Guatemala has had since 1976 shortly before this guest’s stay, which created severe difficulties in our Internet...

I've just returned from a 10 day trip to Guatemala. Lake Atitlan and Hotel Aaculaax have made the list of "trip favorites". The hotel has been beautifully designed and is laid out in such a way that you are hardly aware of any other rooms. Throughout the property, you will find beautiful glasswork and other artistic embellisments. The staff was...

A beautiful place snugged up against the hillside in San Marcos. A variety of rooms, each with their own special character, gives you delightful choices of where you can stay. We stayed for a few days and enjoyed being next to the local park where you can swim and be a bit away from the busy main walkway of town....

We stayed at this oasis on the shores of beautiful Lago De Atitlan a few months back. This hotel is unlike any we've ever stayed at. The staff was wonderful, customers come first here, including the owner, who was able to accommodate us with a discount because of construction taking place near our Cascada room. We also had to leave...

Beautiful place, a piece of art. Built against the mountain, the vegetation ia amazing, the garden is a great place to relax in. Each room is unique. Mine had a terrace with a picture perfect view of Lake Atitlan and the volcanoes. It was a woderful place to watch the sunsets, and meditate at dawn. Service is great and very...

First, let me start by saying that this is BY FAR the best place to stay in San Marcos. We stayed in Sirena which had a magical view of the lake, the room was beautiful, comfortable and the bed was dreamy. But, the best part about Hotel Aaculaax is Byron. Byron works the night shift and watches over the hotel,...

I'm not sure when I fell in love with San Marcos, but it was sometime on the footpath between the dock and Aaculaax. It's a place where coffee grows like weeds, local children run laughing though the streets, and the home of Aaculaax, a perfect blend of western comfort and Guatemalan charm. We reserved Sirena, and boy am I glad...

Stayed at Aaculaax for a wedding - Lily, Olga and the rest of the team were more than accommodating. They were the definition of hospitality (even when we perhaps didn't deserve it - the middle of the night, in the rain, we come back in 5 groups instead of one, order 10 bottles of wine and take 20 minutes trying...
