Casa Palapo was the first stop on our honeymoon and what a fantastic start. It’s a beautiful hotel with stunning rooms. There was a great selection of in room amenities, I loved the soap/shampoo they had. Also never have I had a Dyson hairdryer in a hotel before, loved it!! All the staff were super friendly, the food was delicious. Hands down one of the best gluten free breads I’ve had that they served with breakfast. On hearing it was our honeymoon the manager even sent us a little something to our room which was great. The view from the infinity pool was out of this world (although it is a bit of a climb to get there but wasn’t an issue for us - just don’t forget your sunglasses before you head up there!!) The hotel is quiet and remote which is great to relax but equally town is only a short tuk tuk away (which you can book at reception) if you want to try somewhere else for dinner Finally - the views at this hotel are simply stunning! Highly recommend if you visit Lake Atitlan

Stayed 2 days and 1 night at Casa Palopo with a few girlfriends and we had the best time. The staff was so helpful and accommodating our whole stay. Our room was beautiful and spectacular and the service was top notch. It felt like we were in a family owned and operated luxury resort. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting Atitlan. The views are unparalleled and the cocktails delicious!! We even coordinated a boat ride with the front desk for one of the days. This is a great place for quality R&R.

The place is simply spectacular, the best view of Lake Atitlán, excellent service, good food and architecture that blends in with the environment. The best place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. I loved it!

The hotel manager, Rosa, personally took the time to introduce herself, and to make sure my needs were taken care of. They went out of their way to accommodate my gluten allergy. The restaurant was excellent, the views are stunning, and the decor is original and beautiful, but the real jewel is the helpful, and friendly staff. They always greeted me by my name and were quick to serve. The ideal weather also helps- there’s no need for air conditioning.

The staff are wonderful and the property is beautiful but there were a few things that soured the experience. We were disappointed to be charged an extra 10% upon check in with no explanation. On already expensive accommodation, this can be a significant charge. We were given almost no explanation for this and it's not stated anywhere in the booking emails. I sincerely hope that the mandatory 15% gratuity on all food and beverage (including the mini bar in the room) goes to the hardworking people that work here and is not instead just another cash grab as the 10% added charge onto the room total was. I would not recommend this hotel because we felt gouged. Our room was beautiful but had some drawbacks. The cleaning products they use are very stinky, walking into the room was like hitting a chemical wall every time. We tried to air out the room but there are no screens on the patio doors which because a huge problem because there is also no air conditioning. So at night, if you don't want to sleep in a stuffy hot room, you have to run the risk of being swarmed by mosquitoes in your sleep. The main pool is run down and in need of maintenance. The infinity pool belongs to the villa so if nobody is renting the villa, you can use it (which is nice but confusing when you browse the website). The jacuzzi was broken or at least that is what we were told. Something to note as well is the public lanchas do not pick people up at the dock at this hotel. This information is difficult to find and significantly complicated some of our day trips. Another thing to note is that this hotel is quite secluded so if you hope to pop into town for lunch, you are either hailing a tuktuk for a 20 min drive or somehow organizing a private lancha to take you. The restaurant is delicious but overpriced with small portions. We booked through a visa travel card which is supposed to have additional perks such as a room upgrade on arrival and free breakfast - the hotel did not honour this. Overall, we were just disappointed, it was our honeymoon so we were looking for something special. My advice is to save your money and go stay at Casa Prana.
