Hotel Rex is one of the most established 3 stars hotels in Kalambaka. It is situated in the centre of the Kalampaka town with all facilities and in a location which connects directly with the town and the road to the monasteries of Meteora. Looking to the rocks on the east you can see the monasteries of St. Stephanos and Saint Trinity (Ayia Trias). On these rocks, the James Bond film “For Your Eyes Only” was filmed featuring Roger Moore and Carole Bouquet in 1979. On the west side you can see the very long range of Pindos with the famous Aspropotamos (White River) area and its mountainous villages which provide a unique view for nature-lovers.

Detailed Reviews
For the value, this hotel is superb. Really clean rooms, friendly staff and the breakfast had a great selection. The location was perfect for exploring the area. The room was a good size and had all the facilities you would need including a kettle, towels, glasses and soaps.

Nice hearty breakfast and good rental rates too. Perfect for visiting Meteora.
The town has lots of great shops bars and restaurants, so a few nights stay here is ideal as theres lots to see and do

This is an older hotel off the main street in Kalambaka. Its location makes it quieter than others could be. Breakfast was included, and quite ample. I believe all rooms have the same (tiny) balcony we had, and we could look right out at the beautiful rocks. The high ceilings and generous tub were nice. The desk attendant, Yiannis, didn't have a record of our reservation when we arrived, but he quickly resolved that with a few phone calls. During our short stay, he was kind enough to help with a good restaurant recommendation (Taverna Houtos) and a few Greek words. I don't know the cost per night as my travel agent handled that.
If you are looking for elegance, look elsewhere. If you just want a clean, serviceable place to spend a few nights, it's good. I noticed that quite a few of their other guests were Greek. I liked that-it's not strictly a tourist hotel.

The hotel is located in the centre of Kalampaka with view of the meteora. The rooms were very clean with renovated bathrooms and new air-conditions. It is owned by a family who was very kind and helpful. I would visit again.

Rooms were fine and clean. Good location for going to see Meteora (though you would need a car or to be part of a tour regardless).Breakfast was fine too. Lobby smelled of smoke constantly which was a downside.

We stayed at hotel Rex for a night to take the tour of Meteora. When we got here we found out that the tour had already begun because of the magnificent view from the balcony. The hotel was nice, clean and it had everything we needed. It's directly in the middle of everything happening in kalambaka. We enjoyed our stay and we recommend it to everyone. The staff is very helpful for all your needs.

Last minute stay & it has nice Meteora view. The room is quite small but adequate for Asians size like me, the faculties at room work perfect & affordable pricing. Friendly boss & staff. Walking distance to train station

Ideally located in the town center and as a starting point to Meteora. Breakfast was OK. Good enough if you do not expect much for the low fee rate. In that case, do not complain about a hard mattress, poor and worn out bathroom facilities and a room that looks different than the ones on the website.

Very good hotel for the price. Great location. Beautiful city of Kalambaka and near the city of Trikala (18 km). We stayed one night for the Christmas Theme Park of Trikala. Meteora are only ten minutes away and there is public road to park your car immediately.

Isn't it just nice to find a good hotel right on the road up to the Meteora monastaries? - you can park almost right outside the hotel, and further more we were very surprised to hear how cheap a room in this hotel actually was, considering the central location close to one of Greece's most visited areas. It's simply great value for money. The room was fair, the view was fine, the breakfast was extremely good, and the staff was very helpful. How often will a kind person in the reception take you to the third floor, show you two rooms and let you choose the one you like the best? - also, the staff in the restaurant was very attentive.
Don't listen to the user, who tried to scare you away from this hotel. OK, this is not a 6 star Hilton hotel, but what do you expect for such a userfriendly price? We enjoyed our stay in Rex hotel, because the location is very good, the price was extremely good value, the room was okay, the food was excellent - and the taverna across the street was also worth a visit, nice food and live music on a saturday night!
