Of the three guesthouses we stayed in on our May 2016 trip to Iceland (one night each place), the Hestakrain Guesthouse was our favorite. We arrived quite late due to difficulties concerning one of our suitcases which had not followed us from Stockholm. Tired after a long drive, we were warmly welcomed at the reception by a young Swedish woman...

We stayed here for one night in March and were the only guests staying. It's a beautiful place in a lovely setfing. We arrived after 7pm and Duna and her gorgeous dog came to greet us! We were tired and stressed after a long drive. She showed us the dining room and then took us to our room showed us...

We were the only guests at Hestakrain on a cold snowy day in December. It was wonderful. We watched the horses just out the back of the building and had a delicious buffet breakfast. It's clean and the beds are comfortable and it's in a beautiful location.h The owner was tremendously helpful in working with us to change our reservations...

I loved this place! The rooms are small but very clean. They only offer one dinner choice but is was delicious. The dinner was spendy but so is everything else in Iceland. I would recommend this quiet country hotel, its a great place to stop and relax/rest before another day of exploring.

On visiting the south part Iceland we chose to get a Tour that provided the rental of the car and booking the accommodations in Farm Hotel and Hestakrain was the first stop of the trip. We found this small country hotel comfortable and quiet, providing what you expect from this kind of accommodation where you just stop, relax and rest...

We have stayed here twice. The rooms are small, but comfortable and the food is top-notch. The hot tub is easy to access from the rooms and the horseback riding is some of the best we've had anywhere in the world! We are already planing our next trip here.

During a journey in Iceland, we experimented with hotels, guesthouses, holidays Farms and B&B (price ca. 150 EUR per room). For this price, Icelandic accommodations generally have all you want (private bath and toilet, soap, towel, good bedding (twin beds), warm eiderdown, heated rooms, buffet breakfast, good welcome, …) but are often simple (few or no decoration) and small. If...

Hestakrain is a farmhouse well positioned for touring in this part of Iceland. The rooms are small, en suite and relatively basic. The food, for which there is no choice is standard farmhouse fare. There is a good bar and friendly staff. Accommodation in Iceland and food is expensive but compared to the average, this was reasonable.
