Initially it was difficult finding a place with occupancy near Skaftafell, however I came across the Hvoll Guesthouse which ended up being a great option. Staying there for two nights it was a nicespot not too far from Skaftafell where we could take some day trips. We had a four person room which had one full bed, one single bed...

We stayed here for one night in Dec '16. It was not difficult to find it as there were sign posts. The location is beautiful, it's surrounded by mountains and a lake. A nice retreat for people who like to get away. However, make sure you have food with you as the closest place, a service station, is ~20 km...

Our stay at this hostel was great. The road was easily accessable with a 2w drive. The welcome was very friendly, we forgot our oil to cook and were able to lend some. Everything looked tiny and clean. Quiet neighbourhood, but a hostel we can definitely recommend! Very good value for money.

Stayed one night here, facilities are really great but service was unusually unfriendly compared to what I've been used to at hostels in Iceland. Still a beautiful setting in the lowlands and not a bad choice.

A seriously overpriced accommodation. The only place we stayed in Iceland with a grumpy, unhelpful proprietor, furnishings in need of an upgrade (ie. torn sofa with tape to hold it together), and no breakfast. It had a large, institutional feel and catered to groups who filled up the large communal kitchen. If this were any other country (or if it...

Stayed only one night while visiting the south. Rooms and bathrooms were spotless. We didn't use the large kitchen area, which appeared to be popular with our fellow guests - families and small tour groups - chosing to eat in Kirkjubaejarklaustur, about 30 minutes drive away. The owners are very friendly, helpful and extremely knowledgeable about the area, and the...

It's a far drive from Reykjavik to get here but a must stay if you are visiting the sights and tourist spots around this area. The family is very friendly that runs this hostel living in a home nearby on the grounds. It is literally in the middle of nowhere with nothing close by but the landscape around the hostel...

We enjoyed our stay at Hvoll guesthouse and can highly recommend this place to any visits to Skaftafell national park and glacier walks. The guesthouse is run by a very nice lady, who let us have breakfast half an hour earlier to reach our glacier walk in time. The breakfast was great, including homemade bread, jam and meat. Try it!...

It's a good place to stay if you want to be out by Vatanjokull. It's a little remote, but the facility is clean and the beds are clean. There is a place to do laundry and a nice kitchen area too. The wifi only works downstairs which isn't ideal, but it works nonetheless. Not the best price but average for...

Although it is quite expensive for just a room with no bedlinen or no towels, and shared bathroom, the building is really nice overall, and the kitchens well equiped. It is very spatious, and the bedrooms are quite comfortable. It's a little isolated, but it's ideal for a night in a roadtrip. It's a shame however that the staff lives...
