A group of us recently went here for dinner. We went to celebrate a special occasion and so felt it warranted spending the €65 per head for dinner. But I was totally disappointed. We were warmly welcomed by a lady who didn't introduce herself but I think she was the lady of the house. But I found her to be...

We recently stayed at Newport House to celebrate a special occasion with some family, having travelled from Hong Kong for a Summer in Mayo we were truly looking forward to a special occasion as we had stated there previously and enjoyed it , much to our disappointment we were shown to our rooms on the ground floor of the hotel,...

Gorgeous peaceful B&B, although centrally situated in Newport you feel like you are on a retreat. Stayed for 2 nights B&B in the courtyard accommodation which is a bit dated but very clean. Very friendly staff, whose approach is so gentle and un-intrusive. Breakfast was such a treat, 4 courses effectively all served to you in the lovely dining room...

We stopped for a night at this place and it was really a great one. We booked for a half board that include dinner and the dinner was just amazing! All fresh and well done. The chef is in this place 30 years and it shows!!! The house is a Georgian house beautiful maintained and the staff is out of...

Horribly botched dinner reservation after a one hour drive with my wife and four children. Greeted by a standoffish "host" who coldly informed us that our reservation was for the next day (even though the error was without question on their end). These things do happen and the way that smart venues deal with them is to "find a way"...

We recently enjoyed a most memorable and relaxing birthday at Newport with family and friends. Our overnighting group was booked for dinner for Sat evening and the staff at Newport produced the most lovely evening of fantastic, delicious, locally-sourced food (as on previous visits) and wines in the beautiful dining room. Pre-dinner drinks by the fireside in the cozy bar...

This is not my first time here but each year it is excellent. I think one of the best around. Catherine and Cathal are amazing. You can trust Cathal when he recommends a wine. Every course is better than the last. To finish it off coffee in the drawing room. Try and get a table here you will not be...

We visited a lovely tea room attached to the Tourist Information Office in Newport. The cream tea (tea for two with scones and jam and cream) was absolutely delicious and only 9.50 euros. There was also a lovely local craft and gift shop which is part of the tea room as well. Very friendly and well worth a visit. The...

Set in the centre of the village, with great views over the river. Everything done in the traditional way- real fires, even in summer, all breakfasts individually prepared and blankets on the beds. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. The food was wonderful- fresh produce, including crab-claw meat and various local fish. Numerous courses, prepared to perfection.

My husband and I went for dinner here lately and it was one of the best meals we ever had in beautiful surroundings. From start to finish we were treated so nicely by all members of staff. We enjoyed a pre dinner drink in the drawing room while we perused the menu. We were later brought into the dining room...
