We attended the Downton Ball last Friday night and had a fantastic night. This house is perfect for such an event. We thoroughly enjoyed the 7 course meal, including wine and then port to finish - although I would say a lot of food may have been wasted as some of the choices would not be to everyones pallet. A...

While we had a very enjoyable night with a nice meal with a little more effort it could have been an experience. I suggest the following: Have a footman meet the guests (just on the event evening) Reception staff dress is period costume Give 'names' to each of the hotel staff member in character. Make sure there are enough 'Bellini's'...

Have stayed here many times and keep returning. Love the lounge and bar areas. Great for relaxing with a book and a coffee. Decor is quirky and possibly not to everyone's taste but I think it really adds to the atmosphere. Love the Tunnock's teacakes in the bedrooms too!

An hour’s soak in a green tea bath, a stroll outside afterwards to cool down and admire the view of the river, and a lazy half-hour in the outdoor hot tub, an hour’s facial with a really lovely local therapist whose name I forgot as soon as she began massaging my head – I was so relaxed I wasn’t able...

We spent a day in the bathhouse spa and the main house, didn't stay over so can't comment on the bedrooms. As for the rest, see below The approach to bellinter is beautiful, the grounds seem to be well maintained. The house looks beautiful and the reception area is quite nice...that's where the charm begins to waiver. We had tea...

Booked into stables for a wedding with my husband and 2 children. Within minutes my son was looking under the bed for "the wee thing that ran under it". My husband pulled the bed out and found mice traps, mice droppings a rodent repellant pluged into the wall! We immediately reported the mouse to reception who said it was a...

My boyfriend and I stayed here for one night last week. We stayed in the East Pavilions, which was quite noisy. When people were coming and going from other rooms, you could hear everything. I thought the rooms were very nice, I really liked the style. It's a bit rustic/shabby chic, maybe this is not how it is intended to...

We booked into Bellinter House for a night as we were attending a wedding in nearby Slane. We arrived around 11pm and checked in. We were shown to our room in the "Pavilions" section - you have to leave the hotel and enter this section through a different door. The room was quite basic and strange. It felt like were...

I visited this hotel with my mother in law and thought I'd struck gold with the spa and also the stables accomadation. It can be tricky with this relationship as it feels strange to share a room but then slightly impersonal to have separate rooms. The stable was a lovely building though the single bed downstairs wasn't the best and...

This hotel has obvious potential however it's a thanks but no thanks. Our room was located in the Spa block, was very sparsely furnished and was in dire need of some TLC. Our bathroom exactly the same. The public areas of the hotel are furnished with a delightful mixture of sofas and chairs which sadly require a thorough cleaning. The...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Bellinter House selected in the top new Hotels in the world by the Conde Nast Traveller Hot List 2007. Quote from Conde Nast Traveller Hot List 2007 review: "Huge original fireplaces and antique mirrors ... mesh with original designer furniture and quirky lighting in the atmospheric Drawing Room. The grandeur of great wooden staircases and beautifully embellished plasterwork is softened by personal touches such as lightbox wardrobes." ... more   less
